I am sorry you little pup is so sick. I hope she gets better soon. As for you feeling in the dark, you should tell the vet you want to know what is exactly is going on with your dog and how he is planning to treat her. The vet should tell you all this without being told to. When I take Rocky or my cat to my vet, I have to remind him to not speak in technical terms but in english because he explains thing to me great detail. I sometimes go on system overload.

I would ask the vet directly exactly what is going on with her and to spell out completely what the "treatments" are and if the xrays have been read.

Why the throat culture - do you know what they are looking for? We're still thinking of and praying for Bella. Please keep us posted.

So Sorry to read this forum I hope everything is going good and Bella is coming home with you today. I would tell the vet that you are her owner and you want to know everything that is going on and since they are not a 24 hour care facilitythat, you want to take har home and treat her, and my God if she's going to pass away she should be with the woman who loves her the most. If you can handle it. I know that is what I would want. Sorry to be so so Bixxy. My prayers are with you and Bella and I hope for the best.. Linda

Oh, goodness. I just read this post. I am so sorry to hear how sick your baby is. I am curious as to why the breeder is only wlling to pay for this particular vet...if it were a puppy I sold, I would make sure the vet you chose is a GOOD one but I would want you to be comfortable and have your baby where you want. I have had a baby with a similar problem and it did recover but it really took a long time so don't get discouraged. Prayers are being sent your way for you, Bella and those in charge of her care...

Please keep in touch - I'm concerned about your little pup.

Perhaps your breeder just has her "favorite vet" -- one that she uses and is most comfortable with.

I know it's especially hard when a definitive diagnosis can't be quickly made. But, this happens with people also.

I have a dear elderly woman friend who has been in the hospital for almost a week - they know basically what her problems are - but they are still running tests to try and figure out more exactly what is going on and what other treatments might be used. She isn't doing very well - it's sad.....

You just sit down with the vet and tell him that you're having a hard time understanding everything that's going on. And - if you have trouble understanding what he is saying - ask him to explain it again....

Please keep in touch -- Carol Jean

Hey Joy! I am so glad to hear that Bella is doing better! I have been worried about her, especially since my little girl just came down with Kennel Cough. Anyway, my husband is a doctor so I asked him about what pseudomonas was. He said that it is a bacteria that causes bad respiratory infections in people with cystic fibrosis. In people who don't have cystic fibrosis, it really doesn't do any harm. However, he is not a vet...he is a human doctor...so he doesn't know much about what it does in dogs. But at least it isn't serious in people! And at least it is bacterial, which means that it can be treated with antibiotics. It sounds like everything is on the right track for Bella to make a full recovery. Please continue to keep us updated. We will keep her and you in our thoughts and prayers.
