| severe burping, vomiting My yorkie Isabella, has been having a bit of stomach trouble. She always seems to be burping, before she eats, and after. She burps as though she is about to throw up... but does not throw up. She vomits occasionally, the vet says she has a very sensitive stomach. We have been to the vet, and emergency room for this many times, and the vet always says it is due to her extremely sensitive stomach. She has also been wheezing a bit more that usual, and occasionally takes long deep breathes when she is relaxing. Do you think one has to do with another...or am I just overreacting? We feed her a soft food, from Merrick (called Wingalings-de-boned) and Spot Stew. Maybe it is just her food and she needs a food that is more plain? Has anyone else had this situation with their yorkie having a sensitive stomach? Thanks

| The only advise I can give on this one is that if it is just a sensitive tummy problem, there's a Science Diet prescription food that may help. Science Diet is not my all time favorite but it's what my vet had our poodle on for many years because he needed a prescription one when he got up there in years. I can't remember which one it is exactly but it is a real mild rice formula I believe. Tatum was on it for a couple weeks when she had tummy issues (when we tried to change her food from the one the breeder had her on) as a baby. Good luck!

| Matise with a sensitive stomach. My Matise has a sensitive stomach and in turn has acid reflux & ulcer. He has other issues-a Liver Shunt but he does have a sensitive stomach. He has to take pepcid (special dog dosage) and sometimes reglan (anti vomiting med) and also an ulcer med. he was on it everyday and now on a as needed basis. Like if he starts swallowing too much or burps then I know he needs the pepcid. He was on Hills Science Diet Prescription Diet I/D. It is a very bland diet for sensitive systems. It is a completely nutritional food so you can feed it to them for as long as they need it. Matise is on a different prescription diet L/D for his Liver Shunt. Maybe you should speak with your vet on whether a diet change and or meds like pepcid are what Isabella needs. Good Luck.

| Thank you soo much for your input. I will be going to the vet to discuss, but I am thinking her food may be too harsh for her little belly. I let you all know what the vet suggests. Thanks

| questions about Prescription I/D Hey there - I just found this thread - Buddy had bad diarrhea again and is on another round of Metronidazole to kill whatever it is this time! The fecals are never conclusive about what he has! But, his poop is solid again, but now his burping seems more pronounced and he seems really uncomfortable, like it's reflux or something...he also licks his lips like he tastes something really bad... I'm so worried about him - he's only 7 months old and his file at the vet is HUGE. And he has nothing really wrong with him. I feel like I've ruined him in some way - that I've made him nervous by bringing him to daycare - but he seems to really love it...so I don't know. I think we all go through bouts of feeling like bad moms. Anyway. I am venting. But I guess I will talk to my vet about switching Buddy to i/d but I'm worried because his little system hasn't been able to tolerate rice - a question to the people feeding their dogs i/d whose pups have digestive upset - do they still need Pepcid and stuff if they are eating the I/D? If so, I'm inclined to keep him on the food he's on now - the Nature's Variety Raw Instinct because it has no potato, no rice, no grains, no corn - all things he's shown a bad reaction to... What else can I feed him that is nutritionally complete?? |

| Hi! Just to let you know I have switched my pup to ID, prescription diet and we have not had any stomach issues at all. It seems to be a very bland food that has all the nutrients these little guys need. Overall she seems to be happier and does not have any more stomach issues! I highly recommend ID, Prescription Diet!

| Hi I have a 7 month old yorkie weighs 3lbs, I switched his food because he totally quit eating dry science diet and switched him to puppy chow he started eating it however he started throwing up. Threw up 5 times from 7-11 so I took him to the vet. The vet has me scared. she thinks it is possible liver shunt. He has not thrown up anymore since that day. He did have a swollen lymph node and she put him on antibotics. He does not act sick. He is extremely hyper, he is small, but has not shown any symptoms except for that one episode of vomiting. Should I be freaking out about possible liver shunt. She wants to do a blood test next week. No more throwing up we are on three days w/out vomiting.Help! I have a little girl who lost her german short hair pointer not even a year ago she will be heartbroken if her puppy is sick. I just could not stand to go through that again. |
