My baby is NOT himself today... Hi All, I have a question about my 5 year old Yorkie, Alex. Normally, he is a bundle of energy and loves to play fetch. I couldn't ask for a better dog. Last night, I took him outside for one last trip to the bathroom before bed. He stepped in the grass and was there for a few seconds when all of a sudden he jumped and started yelping. I quickly grabbed him and examined him but did not see anything wrong on him physically. I looked around in the area he was standing and did not see any snakes or vermin of any kind. Once inside, he shot into his crate and hid with his back to the door. I got him out and examined him again but saw nothing wrong with his paws. He walks normal but acts really timid. Hi behavior has not changed this morning either. Although, he did run to eat his breakfast and seems to make a very feeble attempt to play ball. Right now, he is hiding in his crate again. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this before??? Was he just spooked maybe?? |
hmm seems strange....sorry i can't give much help but you should bring her to the vet and have the foot examined.... i hope everything goes ok! |
Maybe he stepped on a bee or twisted his leg. I would have it looked at tomorrow. |
I would just keep an eye on him and check the foot for any swelling. I have seen some Yorkies that have back spasms. They do react like something bit them. If they are infrequent nothing probably needs to be done. If you notice this behavior a lot you should probably have his back x-rayed and maybe they will put him on Rimadyl or something. |
Thanks... I will keep an eye on him. I must say that this is strange. He is sitting around now quivering and acts like he just wants to be left alone. if he is no better tomorrow then I will take him to the vet. I checked his paws again but like I said everything appears normal. I am hoping that maybe he just pulled a muscle or something....Poor baby :( |
Sometimes shivering can be a sign of them being in pain. Can you call the er clinic and see if you can give him something for pain. I hope he wakes up tomorrow acting fine!! |
AW. I know that when Scout isn't feeling good he'll hide in his crate, or hover around our feet.. so it does sound like you baby isn't feeling good :(. I'm sorry. I hope he feels better! |
