| Dixie at ER vet! I wanted to post here so maybe I could get more prayers. I took Dixie to the emergency vet at around 4:30pm. She started throwing up around 1pm and threw up about 7 or 8 times. She was very bright and alert when they took her. The vet did X-rays to check for a foreign body, blood work and gave her something for the nausea. After doing that her Bun was 39! They thought it was best to keep her over night to give her IV fluids and antibiotics. We are hoping the number was raised due to dehydration. They will redo blood work when the Vets do a shift change around 8am. My house is extremely dog safe so I feel there isn’t something she got into but she did eat a little dirt outside. Please keep Dixie in your prayers. This is so scary.

| I hope she’s feeling better today. I’m not very experienced with kidney issues in pups, but I know that dehydration can cause a temporary elevation of Bun levels. This article also says that not fasting for at least 12 hour before the test will cause elevation in Bun. DogAware.com Health: Tests used to Diagnose Kidney Disease in Dogs So the two factors (vomiting/dehydration & not fasting), might explain the elevated Bun. Lots of positive thoughts that she will recover quickly. |

| Thank you both! Dixie is home! They really don’t know what caused it but her numbers were normal this morning and she ate for the vet with no vomiting! They diagnosed gastroenteritis. She is on Metro for 10 days, an antacid and then nausea medicine for 4 days as well as a bland diet. She was sooooo happy to see me and be home. She is completely herself and we are happy she is home! It was a rough night neither me nor Penny slept.

| She is her wild and crazy self! She is not thrilled with the chicken and rice but she is eating it. I think she stunned the tech who brought her out with how wiggly and happy she was to see me. 2 liquid medicines every 12 hours is terrible because she absolutely hates it so its like a 10 minute fight and one of them is for 10 days .

| Dixie is doing great. She has been finished with the nausea medication and antacids and has a few more days on the antibiotics. She is also back to her normal food.

| The weird thing was she never really acted super off, had she not been throwing up I wouldn’t have known something was up. I think that is what surprised me about them keeping her because she seemed ok minus the throwing up.
