YT Addict | Sorry for not updating this till now. Life has been busy and complicated. We've had a setback with Jenna. We'd introduced omeprazole to keep the prednisone from affecting her stomach adversely and also to help with possible CSF reduction, but after less than a month of administration she suddenly became terribly bloated and painful the other night and by the morning had both vomited most of her stomach contents (with some blood) and had fluid diarrhea that was turning odd colors and very smelly. The OOH vet told me to remove food an water for at least 4 hours, but there was no need, she had no appetite. I was afraid I'd overfed her too, she's been constantly asking for food in the last few weeks and the vet told me more frequent meals were okay especially since she'd been low on weight. She was so full of gas and her belly was distended and making such ominous gurgling noises I was scared to death she'd twist her stomach. Apparently this is not something Yorkies do as much as bigger dogs though. After being up with her all night Thursday, I took her in on Friday morning as an urgent care patient and the vet examined her, gave her a shot of Cerenia, prescribed sucralfate twice a day, suggested trying Purina Gastroenteric canned food and told me to lay off the omeprazole. They were thinking she'd gotten into something but she's watched like a hawk by either myself or my daughter so this is highly unlikely. The next day she was much better, the gas was gone but she didn't poo till the day after and it was solid. However, she's now back to hunched walking, some mild ataxia in the mornings or after she's napped and her odd walk with the high stepping. It's not as bad as when she was first diagnosed, but you can tell that intracranial pressure is up again. Besides upping her prednisone (not recommended by the vet, as she also doesn't want to advance more side effects) is there any other way to help her? She was doing so well on the omeprazole/prednisone therapy that she was like her old self again. Now I can see she's uncomfortable. It's breaking my heart for her. And in regards to our other dog, she came through her surgery well and gets her stitches out in about 4 days. She's going to be so glad to have that done. She's been in a cone since last September because this condition made her tear at her behind constantly and we'd sure like to let her out of it, provided she doesn't go right back to messing with her bum again! Many thanks in advance for any and all replies. Vibes and prayers gratefully accepted.

YT Addict | Thank you. With my vet's permission we've allowed her stomach a few days to rest and heal, and now we're trying 0.1 mls a day of omeprazole while still giving her 1/4 tablet sucralfate (not together, of course) and she's still on 1/4 of a .5 ml tablet of prednisone per day. I'm still seeing some breakthrough CNS issues, but it's not as bad as it was. So far her eliminations are this side of normal. It'll probably take a few weeks of regular use before we see any problems if they're going to return. The vet is still convinced she got into something she shouldn't have eaten but this is fairly impossible. Jenna is watched by either myself or my daughter 24/7 and we don't allow her any treats. Her birthday was an exception but she didn't have anything she doesn't usually get, just more of her normal stuff. Can overeating cause symptoms like extreme gas, diarrhea that changes color and vomiting with blood? That's the only other thing I can think of that might've happened that night. Or that she had some kind of bacteria overgrowth. She'd been on baytril for months before we switched to prednisone thinking she had an inner ear infection that was making her wobble. Maybe being off that for a week had unsettled her bowel? Does she need to go back on daily baytril to keep this kind of thing from happening again?
