| Diarrhea My yorkie is 4 years old and started having diarrhea about 3 days ago. Took him off regular food and gave rice & chicken. Threw up a couple of times after that, stool got soft but not runny, now back to runny. Ideas?? Taking to vet tomorrow. |

| Poor boy! Definitely time to see the vet. Monitor him closely tonight for dehydration -- gums should be wet and pink, not sticky and pale. Diarrhea can dehydrate them quickly. Add in vomiting, and it is very worrisome. The smaller they are, the faster they can go down. Make sure you know the way to your ER vet in case of emergency. Pancreatitis is always a concern with diarrhea and vomiting. The only way to confirm is through a blood test, cPL (canine pancreatitis lipase). Keep us updated.

| Poor little boy hope he feels better soon! Are you changing his diet with the consult of vet? My pup before have the same problem as your and the vet finds out that she have a sensitive stomach that's why I change her diet. |

| When my other dogs have had stomach issues, I've put them on rice & chicken and slowly reintroduced kibble back into diet. But this isn't working for my little Yorkie guy. Off to the vet this morning. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Poor guy, sounds miserable. This hot time of year, some funky GI bugs may show up, so it may be that, and will resolve after settling down. But yeah, probably a good thing you're seeing the vet. One thing I always, always give immediately when I see a GI upset is Benebac. It's a probiotic for stressed out systems and has always done me right. It's cheap and easy. I think the last time I bought it I got it either Amazon or Petsmart.

| Everything checked out fine this morning. Apparently just a little GI bug. Prescribed meds for nausea and diarrhea. Instructed to continue with chicken & rice for a few more days. Whew! |
