signs of sick puppy Hi, I bought a yorkie (2 months old) last Friday and unfortunely today, he went out in the rain but was covered with a shirt and an umbrella. He didn't get much sleep that time either so later on, he seems to get really lazy and unmotivated to do anything. Ususally when i throw a ball near him, he would run and jump for it but now hes just laying there. I do near a little sneeze but I'm not even sure if it's even the sound of sneezing. He still bites things so thats kinda good but can someone give me some signs when they catch a cold? |
Hi, and welcome to YT! How much does your little one weigh? Did your breeder tell you about hypoglycemia? It kinda sounds to me maybe his blood sugar is low, which is real common in real young are very tiny yorkies. When Raven was a puppy I gave her Nutrical every morning. Nutrical helps ward off the hypoglycemia. Please keep a close eye on him. I know it's in the middle of the night but if he still seems lathargic, I would give him sugar water, or let him lick maybe a little karo syrup off your finger. If you are not familiar with hypoglycemia please do a search here on YT you will find some very good information. Post pictures of your new baby soon. Kim |
new puppy you also might try putting some sugar in her water and giving her honey nut cheerios everyday, i have a 5 month old baby girl and the breeder i got her from told me to do this to regulate their sugar :) and my little boy is 9 months old they love cheerios... |
Today he won't eat but he still plays a little and follows us around. |
Please call your vet right away! |
puppy Hi and welcome..I have a good Yorkie friend in Vancourer..she said it is much too cold for a young puppy to be outdoors at all..let alone in the rain. Please see your vet asap. Best wishes... |
Ok, I'm bringing him to the vet later on. He's starting to eat now but is sneezing a sign of a cold? |
My vet says that dogs and cats can get conditions that are similar to when we have a cold. He said cats usually sneeze - and dogs usually present with a cough. Treatment depends on whether these conditions are bacterial or a virus. So - continue to keep an eye on your little pup and take him to the vet if he doesn't get better. He may need to be on antibiotics - or another treatment. Carol Jean |
