Orthopedic Hip Surgeon Specialists Hello, Can any of you recommend the best Orthopedic Vet Surgeon in the Southern California area? I am near Redlands. I hear there is one in Upland and Riverside. I want the best one around and will drive as far as I have to. Molly dislocated her hip and she is a tiny little thing just under 3 pounds. Thanks. |
Several referred me to California Vet Specialists. I called there and their vet said that is is not unusual for Molly to be hobbling and not using her leg so soon after the procedure. He said she could even take up to 2 months before using it again. So, we are going to see how she is in a week or two as long as she is still eating, drinking and going to the bathroom and not crying in pain. Get an X-Ray again at a local vet to confirm if the hip remained in place or not. If not, then we will take her to the Surgery Consult and schedule Hip surgery. Praying we won't have to do that. If anyone knows of a better Ortho Surgeon out here, please let me know. |
Dr Denis Aron's did Zoey's femeral surgery in Escondido. He works at different vet hospitals. You can goggle his background. He took her home to his house for five days to make sure she was cared for properly. His wife is his nurse. I highly recommend him. Good luck. |
SoCal surgeon I do know there is a pet veterinary specialist hospital in Irvine ca, on Reynolds road. I think there is an excellent doc there called Dr. Barry or Berry (... Spelling!) he has operated on a couple of dogs I know of and with excellent results. However Irvine may be a pain to get to from Redlands, especially for frequent follow ups. There is a Biewer breeder there called Dee ( very good person and experienced breeder) who may be able to help with a local surgeon. Her YT name is ' 'scrapindee'. You may want to PM her for advice. Good luck! Sorry your baby needs surgery but hope she gets the best surgeon to make her better. |
Surgeons I just looked at the website for the SoCal specialty hospital and Dr. Berry is shown as a spinal specialist. But I believe he did spinal and knee surgery on my friend's Maltese. They have other surgeon specialists too. |
You can find board certified surgical specialists at: www.acvs.org Of course, you do want to check them out further because being board certified is not all that you need to know, but it is a good place to start. Good luck! |
Surgeon I agree the surgeon should be board certified. Luckily at the Irvine hospital most, if not all, are board certified surgeons and other specialties. These surgeries need the best vets. :-) Again hope you find a great vet in your area if possible. |
