www.acvs.org Some vets are adept at some of these surgeries...I just won't use a general vet. My preference.

She's a "bolter," and takes off if she gets the chance. Dr. Beale came in the exam room and left the door open and she was gone! He went into the hall and yelled "we got one loose!" and took off after her and chased her through the halls until he finally caught her. In between that day and her surgery the following Tuesday, there were days when she didn't limp at all. The pics taken during the surgery confirmed the diagnosis. You could see the loose strands of the ligament floating free in the synovial fluid. Her surgery was last April and I know that if she had not had the surgery she would be lame by now.

How long is the rehab? a few months? Should I keep him caged after the surgery or possibly put a gate in a room that has nothing he can jump on? I am also going to call them to find out who would do the surgury to see if the doctor is listed on that page.

I just wanted to chime in to say Thanks So Much! All of you spending your time in helping all of us with your opinions/experiences are just wonderful and I for one, am very grateful for y'all. Knock on wood, but so far, I don't have any problems with my 2yo, but he is still young. Reading some of the posts surely has helped me getting to know, sometimes in detail, the prevalent problems with this breed and where to go for best results. Cheers!

No, you don't want jumping...and don't want running on slippery floors. If the room is small, it could work...but would need to have carpet.

Thank you.... We all learn from one another! This is an awesome forum. Maybe your pup will not ever have any of these conditions....hopefully not! But, yes it is good to be aware!

My girl Lou Lou tore her CCL just over a year ago. I took her to a Veterinary teaching hospital. She had surgery to repair the ligament within a week of injury and is doing fine. Her patella's were checked and they were ok. It cost £1400. I have pet insurance thank goodness. Shirl
