| Rockie-Rosie and her pencil and ham bone! my 9 month old ate a ham bone last night. has been throwing UP a yellow bile for the last 8 hours. tried giving him something to eat but she won't take food or water. gave her nutrical by syringe 10 minutes ago. she also ate part of a pencil yesterday afternoon. part of the pencil was in the 'puke'. also looks like she puked UP some cartilage. I/WE KNOW NOW NOT TO GIVE A DOG ANY COOKED BONES! What do we do now? |

| I think taking her to the vet would be the best thing to do. She may have something stuck in her gut... X-ray would show a problem if there is one. Did the ham bone have any marrow on it? Very fatty and could cause pancreatitis. All this needs to be ruled out and some kind of treatment begun.

| A trip to the vet is definitely called for, because you don't know whether the ham bone and any remaining pencil pieces are still in her and causing blockage. Also, check around the house to make sure there isn't anything else bad she can get into. Yorkies tend to grab things they shouldn't have and try to swallow them as quickly as possible, or at least it seems that way. Let us know how this turns out! |
