Frequent urge to urinate
 
Hi everyone, do anyone know what could be wrong with Pebbles. She has been inactive today and had pee a couple of times and a good amout of pee came out but has many frequent urge to squat and urinate but nothing comes out. What could be wrong? Please help

Im not sure she might have a track infection or stones. I would have her checked out at the vets.

Definitely sounds like either stones or an infection...Please take Pebbles to the vet. This happened to Miko awhile back, and he ended up having stones that he couldn't pass. He had peed in the morning, but then he kept squatting for like an hour, and he couldn't pee...I took him to the vet, and he ended up having stones and crystals that he couldn't pass. This can be very painful for these babies even though they might not cry out in pain...The vet will probably do a urinalysis and a urine culture to see what's going on with Pebbles.

Thanks everyone. I just came back from the vet with pebbles and they don't know if she just has an infection or does she have stones. Doctor gave her two shots and two types of medicines to take home. If she doesn't get better after 14 days then they will do x-rays and tests.

I wonder why the vet didnt do any test? Why would they give meds with out knowing what the problem is? I would take her to another vet .

Give your puppy the medicine that the vet gave you -- and, hopefully, she will get better. -- I'm sure he expects to do more, if she continues to have problems. He is probably hoping that it won't be necessary.

Be thankful - that he is being conservative at first and not doing a lot of unnecessary expensive tests. If he felt there was a serious problem or that she is in any immediate danger, he would certainly have done more this first visit. You will both know soon enough if more needs to be done.

I still think its best to check the source of the problem first before starting treatment with medicine. What if that medicine is not really indicated in the first place? Imagine you have to wait till 14 days before examinations can be done. I suggest you go follow up with a more competent veterinarian. Going with conservative treatment is ok if you know the source of the problem, but going conservative without knowing the source is a poor judgement call.
