Bailey Hello friends. Hope those of you in the States have a great Thanksgiving weekend. As I type, Bailey is at the vet connected to an IV. He started throwing up yesterday and then seemed to be ok last evening. This morning when I was out, Natalie said he threw up all over his bed, on the floor and on the carpet. She rushed him to the vet. He threw up an additional 4 times in the car. Mostly dry heaves. He seemed ok when I left this morning, but apparently not. I have noticed he sleeps all the time, but I just figured that's what he did. And before I left we had some round house fun like we always do and he seemed frisky. In any event, the main tests have come back fine and they sent some more off to the lab. I have no earthly idea what happened to him. Does any of this ring a bell to any of you? He'll be connected to an IV until later this afternoon. I hate this and can only hope it's nothing serious. I feel so sorry for the little guy!!!! |
no advice to offer but wanted to say I hope he is better and home real soon. |
Oh no, I am so sorry that Bailey isn't feeling well. Is it possible he ate something while outside?? Sending prayers and good vibes that Bailey starts feeling better soon. |
Poor Bailey and poor you, I am sure you are worried sick. Hope all goes well and he has just picked up a silly bug and be all better tomorrow. |
Thanks for the kind thoughts. We were able to pick Bailey up at the vet around 4pm. The doctor left the IV in his leg taped up just in case we needed to bring him back. Even though it's Thanksgiving, he is going to meet us tomorrow to remove the IV. Bailey seems to be better. We went over to our son and daughter in laws for dinner. Bailey went with us. He faired well. Now we are home and per doctors orders gave him a half cup of cottage cheese. He wolfed it down. I still think he's not 100%, but he's come a long way. Not sure what happened, but he must eaten something he's shouldn't have. Phew. What a day. |
Glad to read that Bailey is better. Praying he continues to get past whatever was making him sick. It's also good to see a fellow Memphian here. :) Actually, I'm just up the road in Tipton County. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! :) |
I pray Bailey continues to improve and gets his spunk back...get well quick Bailey!!! |
dog So glad Bailey is better. My Spud likes to nip at a plant outside on our walks. I have to really watch him. My JoJo threw up bile this am but is ok. I guess Yorkies get into things they shouldn't. Hopefully it isn't his food. Make sure his food is quality dog food. I am glad he is feeling better. |
chester was sick with gastroenteritis over 2 yrs ago with the same thing, he had not gotten anything new or nothing, he was on chicken and rice and baby food for a few days, and then he was fine, Im glad he is doing better |
1 Attachment(s) Good morning everyone and Happy Thanksgiving. The doctor decided to leave the IV in and this morning Bailey decided it was time to come out. He undid the bandage, yanked out the plastic part of the IV and left it sitting on the comforter. I looked at the blanket and saw it laying there along with blood stains. Yuck! We were meeting the doctor at 10am anyway, so we called early and he met us as the clinic. He removed the rest of the IV, cleaned the area, put on a pretty yellow bandage, and away we went. Bailey seems to be much more like himself, but I still say he's a bit lethargic. Later today when family comes over, we'll see how he fairs. Thanks to all for your well wishes. MomtoJasper, yes been to Munford. Nice town and the high school has an awesome band! Cheers! |
hope Bailey continues to improve |
So glad that your Bailey is feeling better.:) Hopefully he is back to 100% by the time your family comes over. Sending positive thoughts down from BC, Canada. Happy Thanksgiving! |
dog Oh Bailey you are so cute! I hope and pray you will be healthy and run and play like Yorkies like to do. You are a beautiful dog and I know you are smart because you undid that iv. Looks like you had a happy Thanksgiving! |
Sweet little boy. I hope Bailey is back to 100% soon. |
Hoping Bailey continues to feel better... |
Thanks to everyone for your kind well wishes. It's been a week now and Bailey seems to be his old self. Short of his poor shaved front leg, he is back to normal. We still have no idea how he got so sick, but the more I think about it, it may have been some turkey that fell on the floor. Bailey is very smart. He knows to stick close by when either we are cooking or cleaning up the kitchen. There he has a shot at snarfing something to do with that yummy people food. That turkey we think had been soaked in garlic. other than that, we just don't know. But I'll share a cute tale our vet told us. he has a friend down in Tampa Florida who is a vet. The doctor made so much money off of poor dogs who got sick eating people food and table scraps that he was able to buy himself a big boat. Know what he called it? Table Scraps. No people food!!! |
So relieved to hear he is back to his old self. I gotta agree with the no people food. |
So glad to read that all is well with Bailey. |
Thanks everyone. Now Bailey is sick again. This time with fever and constant sneezing. It appears he is struggling to breathe. So another trip to the vet, some shots, medicine and he is racked out under a blanket in my office. He has a cold. |
Best wishes on Bailey making a full recovery... soon! Poor guy has been through a lot recently:( Sending positive thoughts from BC. |
How's he doing now? Hope he has gotten over whatever was ailing him, poor little guy. |
