The first poop after an enema can be difficult, I'm so glad she was able to go. After a tricks training class, Joey had to go on a diet and the vet suggested cutting his meals down by a third and adding about 5 green beans to help fill him up. He loves the green beans I use the frozen kind and thaw them because they have no salt. The extra fiber also may help them empty their anal glands. I hope she continues to do well! |
Green beans sounds good, maybe I'll do that! Does this have the same effect as pumpkin? I think the vet said 1/8 can a day of pumpkin with her regular food can be helpful. @Mimimomo, the vet recommended iVet, it's not what I'd call premium but if her tummy does ok with it and she loses weight then I'll be ok. Price is really an issue. I'm paid on production, sometimes I can't help but have a low income month so sometimes a premium food is an option and sometimes not. The problem though is switching her too fast on food makes her sick, so I just try to find a food she's content with, doesn't hurt her tummy, and is in a mid price range. So hopefully the iVet won't be too horrid, it's over half less fat than her previous food which we are tapering her off of and introducing the iVet with. |

So glad your baby is doing so much better. And having found such a great vet is wonderful! And not easy to do either. I was so excited while I kept reading your description of how nice they were and took their time to explain everything to you. We also have a new vet as the one we had left. The new was great with Julia and her spider bite. So far, so good. YAY for poop!!! :) Glad she is on the mend. Get some good rest now Mom. :p:) |
Rest, yes! I haven't gotten much until last night lol. I have a question. I was trying to do a warm compress on Lolli's bum per instruction. She did fine with it last night and today for a couple minutes. Then she got restless and kept wanting to get off the bed (was petting her while I watched some TV and had the compress on her rump) and then she started panting. She's been doing this lately when she's gotta go pee or poop either one. I'm not sure why? But I started scrambling around to take her out, was only maybe 3-4 minutes, and she had an accident while she was pacing around.. I'm confused about the panting, and the random peeing? Is it because of her butt pain that this could happen? It's a bit late to call and ask the vet now. Maybe I'll call and ask tomorrow but just wondering if she had to go all along but it wasn't urgent until, well.. until it was. I'm wondering if maybe the warm compress just sort of made it urgent? She hasn't done this at all since we've been home but had done it Sun and Mon while she was "sick". |
