Senior Yorkie Talker | After spaying 2 dogs, one is now very aggressive.... Bella, my 6 month old was spayed on Wednesday. She did great. Sadie, my 11 month old was spayed today. When I brought Sadie home, Bella sniffed of her and attacked her. They have always gotten along and this is very disturbing. Is this something that happens? If so, does the aggression go away? I had to let Bella go to her grandmas so that Sadie can recover tonight with no fear of being attacked. I tried putting Bella in her crate but the crying was too much. So, luckily, my mother was more than happy to help. Is it the smell that Sadie is putting off? ANY insight on what could be going on would be greatly appreciated!

| Sorry, I have no idea but hope everything turns out okay. I didn't think females usually did this. Do you think she smells some smell from the vet that she doesn't like or something? Good luck to you all. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks so much. It broke my heart to see Bella so mean. I didnt plan to have them spayed in the same week but it was urgent to spay Sadie considering her extremely long heat cycle. I know their little bodies have been put thru so much and I am hoping that its just Sadie's scent and that after a few days, they will be normal again. My 10 year old yorkie, Zoe, is fine with both of them. Its crazy!

| Probably because Zoe is secure in her "role". The littlest one is seeing a weakness and a chance to move up the pecking order Definitely keep them separate for a day or two though..so it doesn't turn into a permanent spat.

| Whenever I separate one from my pack, when I return them to the group I always watch out for possible aggressions from the others, and I jump right in if I see any and stop it right away. Smelling different is definitely a trigger for mine, also showing weakness (like yelping when a toe gets caught in the coat or similar). Mine have calmed down somewhat after being together for 3 years, and they know I will protect them from each other.

| Spay/neuter can change behavior. Major hormonal changes are occurring. It will probably get getter. Keep them separate until everybody has healed.
