My understanding is that 200 ml of fluids is about standard. |
Looking at dosing info online it does seem to be quite a lot. I was just texting with a vet about this out of curiosity. They wouldn't be worried with that dose but it is quite a bit more than they would give. For comparison when I give Ellie about 75ml some still sits between her front legs the next day. I'd just talk to your vet about it. I'd be shocked if all of that had absorbed by now. I also highly doubt this is parvovirus. Andi don't like Trifexis and will not use it. |
Poor baby. :(. Keeping her in my prayers. Keep us updated. |
You and Sophie Kate are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry she is ill. I can tell how much you love her and that you will move mountains to get her better. |
prayers for shopie kate hope she is doing better. |
prayers are being sent for Sophie Kate and ((huggzz)) for mommy. I hope they get to the bottom of this and Sophie feels better soon... |

This does not sound like parvo at all! Sounds like a reaction to the Trifexis. My vet does not recommend Trifexis for my Yorkies. The seizure activity is a very real concern for her. Praying your baby recovers from this episode. |
How is sweet Sophie Kate today? Hopefully she has improved! |
She has improved enough to come home!!! I am picking her up this afternoon. We are not sure what caused this but can tell you one thing for sure NO MORE TRIFEXIS ever!!! We are back on Heartguard for life. I did all the cleaning and sterlizing of her crate, blankets, bowls, pads and toys (would have sterlized the cat if he would stand still long enough). Thankful for all your prayers, thoughts and advice everyone of you are appreciated and your opinions do count. |
Great news! Praying that she continues to improve! |
Oh GREAT NEWS!! So happy to hear, I know having our babies sick is so stressful on us! What are your instructions for home? So glad you are not going to give her the Trifexis!! I don’t know too much about it, but from what I read I wouldn't give it!! I know certain dogs react to all different things, but I just wouldn't feel safe giving that to my baby!! |
Oh, good, she's well enough to come home. Hope she continues to improve and is herself again before long. What was the vet's final diagnosis? |
I am very happy to hear Sophie Kate is coming home today. Sending prayers that she will recover fully quickly. |
Prayer's for Sophie Kate. So glad Sophie Kate is coming home today. Will continue to pray for her and her Mommy. It just kills us when our babies are not well. She will be back to her old spunky self in no time, with the care you give her.:getwell: thinking of you guy's often. Anne/Luci:p |
Glad to read that Sophie Kate is ok & she's back home! Hope she continues to do well & get well very soon. |
I am so glad Sophie Kate is doing better. My heart goes out to you both. Hugs |
She is feeling much better today, she ate some food and a little boiled chicken and is now sleeping in her chair. Poor little girl needs to poop, she has such horrible gas. I am going to take her out again and try. Thank you all for the good thoughts. |
I am so thankful Sophie-Kate is home and getting better! I chose not to use that Triflexis. I hope others reading this post will too. So many side effects. Now she can eat and rest and we can rejoice in answered prayer for this little precious Yorkie. |
Glad. she is better |
I have been thinking about Sophie Kate. I'm glad to hear she's doing better... Hopefully she will go potty for you. |
She is doing so much better today, we have regular potty's and she is her old spunky self almost. My friend said I over reacted taking her to the ER Vet, in my opinion I didn't when she vomited 4 times within 2 hours and I could not get any liquids into her. Friends...they are wonderful to offer advice, I wonder if she would welcome my advice to get her dog groomed and bathed more than once every six months :) Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers. |
You did what everone should do who loves their little one and wants to ensure that they thrive and stay healthy. I really believe in being proactive. I'm so glad that your little girl is continuing to get better. |
I am so happy that your baby girl is doing better, and is at home. I know she will continue to improve. You are a great mom!!! |
It's great to hear that little Miss Sophie Kate is doing much better:love: Your friend is a doofus:laugh: You did the right thing, of course you know that;) |
Thanks all, Sophie Kate is back to her old spunk, sassy self. Eating and drinking and pooping and napping and bothering the cat and...well being a Yorkie. |
So glad sweet Sophie Kate is feeling good!! I'm sure the cat is happy too :p |
So glad Sophie Kate is back to her cute little self & feeling good. It's strange that I stumbled on yr post. We are now battling similiar symptoms with our babies. The strange thing is Cole was given Trifexis days before his symptoms, but almost a week later, Bella now has same symptoms & has not been given Trifexis. So all very perplexing. |
That is very strange. I have Sophie Kate back on the Heartguard now and will not change. I still am not 100% sure what was wrong with her, it took a few days at home before she was back 100%. Were you having problems getting liquids into your babies? That is what scared me the most, she was vomiting a lot but would not take any liquids. |
wow... just reading!! I am sure you were very scared!! Hope all is well and she contenues to get better. |

I HATE this medication....I would stop it immediately.....my vet will not recommend it for Yorkies....it may be for all small dogs, but since all I have is Yorkies, that is all I am familiar with....I asked her about it, and she immediately said "NO"! |
