| Yorkie throwing up and feeling sick I haven't been around here for some time, but a problem with my little one brought me back. Today i went out with Jackie and saw she had diarrhoea. I didn't really make a big deal out of it, because she always (or most of the time) has loose stool when she poops outside. Then i went to the store and when i came home i saw she threw up. First vomiting was something between brown and dark green colour with chunks of food in it. Later got yellower. She vomited about 3 times, every time yellower. She ate her own stool yesterday. So this might be the problem? And there is a chance that she ate a bit of dirt when we where outside (she always plays with other dogs then starts to dig up a hole or something). I would be really thankful for any advice or anything.

| Best to have the pup vet checked. Don't want to take any chances when they are vomiting and diarrhea.

| Not to scare you or anything, but if they have a blockage, they will throw up & have diarrhea. But so many other things can make them do that, what are you feeding her? The most important thing is to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated. Since they're so little, they lose fluids fast, esp if it's coming out of both ends! Her having loose stools often is also not a good sign, please take her to the vet asap.

| Thanks for all of your help! mimimomo, all i'm feeding her is Orijen (kibble). And through the day she gets treats like Ziwipeak and another dry meat treats. And sometimes she gets a bit of peanut butter. That's all. So here's an update. She sleeped most of the afternoon yesterday. When she woke up (in the evening) she was ok - already playing and running around. This morning she felt great, she was the same as every morning - playful, full of energy. We went for a walk and when we came home she played for a while and then she needed to poo. I saw she still had diarrhea, brown liquid. She felt ok, there was just diarrhea. I'll probably take her to the vet today, but i still want to ask you for advice. What food can i give to her to stop liquid stools? As i said before, all she eats is Orijen (kibble), treats (Ziwipeak and one other dry meat treats) and sometimes she gets a bit of peanut butter. I never really had a problem with that. Thanks for all your help, im just really worried.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I would definitely take him to the vet. Do not wait anymore. He has had a way to long. As Mimimomo said she can become dehydrated really fast. There might be something else going on. white rice helps with loose stool. If it is really bad a bland diet with white rice and boiled chicken. Also pumpkin is good to add in the diet for more fiber. |

| So we were at the vet and they just said that she looks fine (she really does, playful as always) and told us to give Jackie rice and boiled chicken (as you all have already told us) and yoghurt. So if she's not better tomorrow, we're going back in the morning. I really hope she's going to be ok.

We tried ziwi peak & it made all 4 of my yorkie's poopies soft. I didn't mix it w/their current food, just gave it to them as a treat. Once you open the bag, it must be used w/in 8 weeks time. That is strange that she is eating her own poopie...she's getting a good, high protein kibble & other meat treats. Was she checked for internal parasites? Blood work? I would stop all treats & feed her boiled white chicken breast, white rice & an insoluble fiber like carrots or green beans, also slightly cooked. You can also add a tsp of pumpkin to firm things up. This would only be a short term diet until her tummy settles as it's not nutritionally balanced... Please keep us posted on her condition, hoping she'll feel better soon.

| Running stool started yesterday in the morning. Here stool was perfect before, we have been on Orijen and Ziwipeak all the time. She probably doesn't have internal parasites. About two weeks ago i gave her anti-parasites medicine (precaution). If there will be no improvement 'till tomorrow, we're going back to the vet. Thanks for the advice! I'm not giving her any treats today and i have just fed her rice, later on we'll probably have some boiled chicken. And it's the first time i hear about carrots and green beans. If rice & chicken won't help i'll definitely feed her carrots, green beans and pumpkin. Otherwise she's acting ok. Being her own playful self. We're playing with her toys and cuddling and she's acting like it's nothing wrong.

| First I would like to thanks you for all the advices you have given me. Jackie is feeling much better now. She still has diarrhoea, but the vet said to give her rice. She probably ate something weird outside. But I need another advice. I don't want to start a new thread so I'm going to ask you all here and I hope someone could help. She has this weird habit/thing/whatever now. She gulps water and then she throws out a bit of it. It's a bit slimy, but i think it's just water. Anyways - I have read that she probably drinks to fast. Probably. But do you think it has something to do with her sickness (diarrhoea, throwing up)?

Sometimes Princess throws up water after she drinks water. She also coughs a lot sometimes after drinking. Not sure if it went down the wrong windpipe or what...I don't know if there's a medical reason for it, but it seems to happen if she drinks too fast. She has had a thyroid test done & it was negative. There are other medical reasons why a dog will throw up water or gastric juice: Dog Throwing Up Water - VetInfo Once again, I stress the need to see a vet if you are concerned &/or if Jackie continues having diarrhea. Since she's also throwing up clear liquids, you should get a full blood panel test done (this should be done yearly for their wellness checkups anyway) to rule out any liver issues.

| It may just be the food/treats.... both Orijen and ZiwiPeak are pretty high in fat.... may be too 'rich' for her tummy. Peanut butter is also high in fat (though fine in moderation). But it may just be too much. Also, how much does she weigh and how much are you feeding her? A lot of people over-feed Orijen, it needs to fed a lot less than other foods. I would cut out Ziwipeak, and only feed Orijen and try feeding just a bit less of it. Just to start. She shouldn't having somewhat runny poo every day. For reference, when my boy was eating Orijen, he would only need 1/2 cup of it and he's 16lbs and very active.
