| welcome to yorkie talk and i am sorry that you and koda are going through this... i do hope the new specialist has given you some answers to help her. will be looking for an update... i have an 11 year old yorkie with cushing's who takes vetoryl, also known as trilostane. when my girl started it, i had an hour long meeting with my vet discussing the med. it is a very serious drug and from what my vet has told me, the rule of thumb is never give it to a dog that will not eat or is vommiting / diahrrea. that is a sure sign of either a reaction to the medication or overcontrol and indicates an emergency visit. if an emergency visit is not possible which would be a very rare situation, i have prednisone on hand as an anecdote until i can get her in. overcontrol of cortisol makes a dog have the opposite of cushing's and have addison's diease. with vetoryl this is usually reversed in days to weeks after the medication is stopped but can be a permanent condition in rare cases. it also requires regular acth monitoring because the dose is usually adjusted several times throughout treatment and you don't want to overdose. did koda just start this medication? has she had regular acth stim tests? has she been checked for diabetes? diabetes has a lot of the same symptoms as cushing's. that much weight loss is incredibly scary. i am also a member of a canine cushing's yahoo group. it is full of information about cushing's and its treatment and has several very knowledgable members willing to help. they have helped me out a lot and if you would like to join, the link is below. you and koda are in my thoughts and prayers and i am hoping you got her to the specialist and have a good update. | I PMed Dorvill131, this msg was left on my profile page: (as Profile Pages are open to public viewing, I feel okay posting it here too as I know how worried everyone is) Koda is feeling a little better. It was so heartbreaking to know that she has lymphoma in her intestines. It's been very sad for my whole family as she is so sweet and so loved. We decided to put her on medication - Prednisone and give her Reglan for her vomitting, but what matters most right now is prayers. She needs a miracle and I don't have a doubt that God will give me another one if we only believe. "Whatever you ask in prayer and believe, you will get it." Thanks for your concern and please keep her in your prayers. God bless!

| I am not a vet but I have owned these little guys for years. Your vet didn't freak out about the weight loss that's my first concern, my second concern is she should have IV fluids. If you call and can't get an appoint just show up. In theses cases most Dr will work her in. Have you tried just letting her lick the pedilyte pops? I due this when my baby's have up set tummy I give them a little kayopectate to coat there tummy before they eat I had had great success with this but ask you vet first. It sounds like your baby has hemorrhagic gastric Enteritis or HCE, but I am not a vet. I would ask if they have checked for this |
