Ohhh noooo, poor Max and poor you, I know you won't sleep tonight, I hope hes ok and it was a fluke of some sort..keep us posted. Puppy prayers for you both. |
Thank you everyone. Quote:
I'm feeling much more optimistic that this is a throat irritation. Max licked some ice that I rubbed in a bag of boiled chicken, and he begged for some actual chicken. :p Then he barked at the clothes dryer buzzer. He sounded a little hoarse and did a little mild head bobbing, so his throat is definitely hurting. Otherwise, eyes are bright, tongue pink, tail up. He is resting in his bed at my feet. I'm too warm for him. |

We may have to follow up with our vet or visit the er doc again tomorrow. We'll see. |
Poor Max :(. What an awful way to spend a Saturday night! |
I just said a prayer for Max and you. I hope he is better in the am. I wonder if licking an ice cube would make his throat feel better. I know when I have a sore throat, ice cream feels sooooo good. |
Keeping Max in my prayers. |

I was so proud of the way both the boys behaved in the ER. Teddy was concerned for his brother, so he was really good. Max always knows when a doctor is trying to help him. I let the guys walk around on the floor and they were perfect. |
How's Max this morning? Hope he's feeling better. Glad Teddy is being a good brother, give them both a big hug. |
Thank God Max is ok and well wishes sent to you. Susan |
I hope Max is better this morning. Kacee is sending hugs for Max. |
Glad he is doing good, you did the right thing taking him in right away. I'm not sure but I think ficus is poisionous? |
I hope your beautiful boy feels much better this morning. I had a similar experience with Ashley when her throat got irritated, and she continued to cough for days. After several visits with other vets in the practice, my vet returned from a trip and he was able to stop the cycle of her coughing. Ashley's trachea healed very quickly after that. I'm sorry that you and Max had to go through this. |
Thank you everyone for the well wishes and hugs for the Maxman. He is tired and quiet, but he enjoyed his soft chicken breakfast, and his eyes are bright. We will decide tomorrow if we need to follow up with our regular vet. Quote:

Max has not been coughing, just swallowing hard. Tonight he had a crazy sneezing fit, only 3 sneezes, but they seemed quite violent. He shook his head really hard and startled me. We'll see how he is doing in the morning and decide if we need to bring him to our regular vet. |
Once in the spring quite a few years ago, my pup was out running through the new spring grass. He was just a pup and the grass was taller than he was. We came in the house and he began sneezing, and this went on for over a week and through two vet visits. I called them headbanger sneezes bc they were so violent he would bang his nose on the floor each time. Plus I kept finding puddles of clear mucus on the floor where he laid. Finally, I waited till right after a sneezing fit, grabbed a flashlight and looked up his nose. I saw a tiny green dot right in the middle of his right nostril. I grabbed a pair of tweezers and got hold of the thing and began pulling it out very gently. Seven inches later the thing unfurled and I was holding a piece of new spring grass! There were no teeth marks on it so I figured as he was running around, a piece must have shot up his nose, or he ate it and vomited and that's how it got there. IDK, but he was fine afterwards. Hope Max is doing better.:D |
Kristin, Just seeing this. So glad that Max is doing better. That had to have been very scary. Tell Max that he's not allowed to scare mommy like this!! Sendi.g prayers that he continues to feel pnetter quickly. Hugs. |
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. :) Kathy, I read your grass in the nose story earlier when I searched for sneezing on YT. Although the doc looked in Max's nose, I got out a pen flashlight to look again to see if the sneezing may have moved something. I do think the sneezing changed something because Max exercised his voice a couple times in the last hour and didn't do any head bobbing/hard swallowing afterwards. He also hit a higher note and didn't sound quite as raspy. |

This happened to Daisy last year. She was sneeezing violently and not stopping. I picked her up to rush her to the emergency vet and DH spotted something green sticking out of her nose. It was a huge piece of grass about 4 inches long and really thick. He pulled it out and she was fine. I had seen her eating grass right before the sneezing started. It about scared the life out of me. |
Just saw this, so good to read Max is doing much better. Keeping well wishes for sweet Max. |
