Oh that makes it tough. Can you call the nearest emergency room vet and ask them their opinion and ask if it could wait till you normal vet is open. If they say, "No he should be seen right away", put your folks on the phone.

10x worse as in more blood? Or because your parents are not letting him be seen?

Blood in the stool is not something to take lightly in my opinion. This happened to me about 2 years ago with Rosie. It started out with diarrhea, then blood in the stool, then vomiting. It went from bad to worse. The blood was literally pouring out of her bottom by the time I got to the vet. I really thought I was going to lose her.

Now, if I see blood I head to the ER. Not to scare you, but please get this baby to the ER. I understand about the money. I have had to use my credit card more than once. Many places offer credit care (I think that is the name of it) to help. Please find out and keep us posted.

I'm sorry for not being clear. There was no more blood. Biscuit was fine while I typed that response. I did go to the ER and they checked his heart, temp, tummy, etc and all seemed well. He hasn't presented any pain, discomfort, diarrhea, or vomiting in the hours since the blood so they let him come back home. I wasn't able to afford x-rays but they said it was only a recommendation and not an urgent need. They also recommended some blood work and a fecal test to check for parasites, which we will get through tomorrow.

Biscuit and I are worn out. A big thanks to everyone who replied and wished him well

I'm sorry for not updating sooner! Biscuit is doing very well. His vet saw him today and ran some blood work. We should be getting the results by tomorrow. The vet also gave us a bag of Hill's Science Diet (bleh). The diet change is only temporary and he'll be going back to Natural Balance as soon as we get the all-clear. (Unless the test results show that he needs a diet change... in which case, I would like to find a food better than Hill's.)

For the moment, it really does seem like he had some irritation as he passed something he shouldn't have eaten. I hope the results shed some light on this fiasco.

Biscuit didn't do so well the last time he was on Hill's (lots of scratching and skin infections). Natural Balance has really helped him in that respect.

Did they give you I/D? Rosie has tummy issues all the time and that is what they recommend for her. I will let you know that I tried taking her off of it and we had tummy issues again. You might want to watch closely when you go back to the Natural Balance.

Yup, I/D. I'm just worried his allergies and itching might come back. We had him on Hill's for a while but Natural Balance really helped with the itching. His tummy takes priority at the moment, though, so I'll be taking your advice. Thank you!

Did you mention the itching and allergies to the vet? There may be a better option for him.

Yeah, the vet knows about the itching and has treated Biscuit in the past for skin infections. I'm hoping he'll respond well to this food. I don't ever want to see blood in his poo again
