Sapphire has cherry eye. The vet told us she was born with it, although it was not noticeable right away. The vet said there is surgery to fix it (it is more common in larger breeds) - but since she is only 4 pounds, they did not want to do the surgery. It does not bother her at all. |

I don't see any trace of it anymore in Kymmi's eye and the vets are closed today due to the weather. I'm going to keep watching it. |

I have never heard of a vet recommending leaving a pup with something like that. What does her weight have to do with it? Pups undergo anesthesia all of the time that weigh 4 pounds...even less. I would go for another opinion if she were mine. Besides, they could easily take care of it when she has her dental. She does have dentals I hope. |

I hope you are able to get ahold of someone if it looks bad again. But that is just how it happens for me, just when I need them it seems bad weather or a weekend! |

Back from the vet I took Kymmi to the vet today. The vet did a thorough examination of her eye and didn't see anything wrong with it. She said that maybe she'd gotten something in it or had scratched it causing it to swell and the third eyelid pop out like that. She said her eye wasn't irritated at all today. She thinks it was just a minor injury that has resolved itself. I hope so. It has looked totally normal for 2 days now. Thanks for the replies and advice. |
Cool, and now you have peace of mind! |
