Upset tummy... On Saturday, Zora (7 months old, 8 pound female) didn't make it to the door and had explosive diarrhea before we made it outside. I withheld food for about 8 hours and gave her a scambled egg (called vet). Sunday AM got egg again and no problems all day. Last night she had an accident in her crate in the middle of the night. It was rather soild. I thought she just had a schedule change. This evening we came home to find explosive diarrhea again out the front of the crate. She still plays and drinks. She is currently in my lap passing the worst gas ever! She has been eating Nutro Ultra Holistic Super Food and Nutro Ultra hard food. She loves this food. My husband left for a trip on Saturday morning. I'm wondering if maybe she's just being nervous and it's causing her upset stomach. |
I doubt that being nervous is causing explosive diarrhea. I'm not too familiar with Nutro, other than there are a whole host of problems noted with that food. I'd switch personally. What did the vet say? Did he/she prescribe anything? |
Could be from stress, but I'd be concerned about other things first. Nutro has been associated with illnesses and deaths in many dogs. May want to switch... If she isn't better by morning, then she does need to be seen for meds and/or a bland diet. Have you tried chicken and rice? Are her gums pink and moist? |
Her gums were pink and moist before she went to sleep in my lap. The vet said a bland diet (scramble egg or boiled hamburger) for the protein. She is behaving pretty normally overall. She is playing, drinking, peeing normally. It has been stormy here and her "dad" is gone. If not Nutro, then what? I did a good amout of research and never found this bit of info. |
Poor little girl! If she doesn't get better she needs to see a vet for sure. Until then you can give her half a teaspoon of Pepto Bismol. IMO the best food is Orijen since it doesn't contain any grain or rice at all. Our Maggie who is highly allergic to a whole bunch of foods and reacts with the worst diarrhea is doing just fine with it. In fact all my babies have nice firm poopies now and their coat is shiny, the teeth are clean and they burst of energy... |
