How is Ellie doing now? I have been at work all day so just wanted to pop in and see how she is doing |
Ellie is doing well. She is holding down food, etc. Just waiting for her piggy pancreas to arrive and now I'm looking into making Tylan capsules instead of forcing the powder down her as is. |

I have a site for capsule maker as you need the tiny capsules too - if you want to go the cheap route then you can poke a hole in bottom of styrofoam cup and place the capsules in the hole to make them stay then use one of those tiny funnels to put powder in. Wear gloves as it is not suppose to get on your hands as can cause a rash. This is how i was told to do it and the hospital even gave me the styrofoam cup. I never had to use it as the probiotics worked but this is how they taught me. I will go get the link to the maker though as cyndi (izzyprincess) on here uses it and she just sent me the link for someone else |
Have you ever doubled up on her probiotics when she has a bad bout of diarhea as dd had a bad one day before yesterday and I doubled up on probiotics and today and yesterday pooped perfect poop. |
Torpac, Inc. 333B Route 46 West, Fairfield, NJ 07004 (1-973-244-1125) Veterinary Capsules, Soluble Containers, Gelatin Capsules, Rat Capsules, Capsule Fillers, Encapsulators from Torpac Capsules Size 5 Funnel and Tamper Size 5 CT Caps |
Glad to hear Ellie is doing better:) |
i just checked my bag of capsules from hospital and it is torpac but the size is #4 and it says .21ml so you may want to ask if they have them that small still and maybe not on website I know cyndi uses the 5 as that is the info she gave me below but those are probably bigger. Izzy is only 3.5lbs I think so it works for her |
Thank you. Teh larger the number, the smaller the capsule. 5's are very hard to find... They are best for small dogs if enough of the drug fits in them. 3's and 4's are sometimes used. I am looking at the vegetarian ones since the gelatin/beef ones don't seem entirley healthy to me. Looked at this company and liked it, but they don't show prices and I was too afraid to ask. lol It's hard to find a supplier that is safe and trusted that will sell to individuals. Don't really want to spend the money on a maker unless I can get it for realllly cheap, so may end up filling them by hand. I've gotten Tylan on my hands and used to breathe in the dust from it all the time while dosing in. Fun, fun. |
 duh you are right need some coffee lolll wish dh would wake up lolllllll or I am going to starbucks. HE only makes the best coffee according to him lol the 5 would be smaller :) I do not think it was that much let me check with her - you have to call to make the order - the specialty hospital i go to is who gave this stuff to me so hoping a good company and izzy has had alot of issues like ellie so i think it would be safe :) |
I do like the looks of this company. They only sell porcine gelatin caps though. Ugh. I guess we'll just go with it anyway. It looks like I'd need the ProFunnel and that would be all. I like that they sell the 5's. |

hi well the funnel and tamper $75 but you only buy that once the caps you get 1,000 for $58 but it's been over a year and I still have some and we were using them every day until a month or so ago |
Wowza. The Funnel isn't too bad, but that is really expensive for empty capsules! I will ask about the 4's though. Maybe they are cheaper since they aren't as rare. |

She is still doing okay, although food does seen to bother her tummy. Ann, Pm'ing you. |
Curious - can she have plain yogurt or does that make her sick as well? I only ask because i always give it to morgan when she has an upset tummy or diarrhea. it seems to make her feel better. |
Crystal, Lola would get so sick and vomiting foam from the Itraconazole. It was liquid. The specialist told me to give it to her in a capsule. So I bought capsules and injected them with the meds. It still made her very ill and vomiting foam. Her new specialist put her on a pill Fluconazole and she did much better. She was actually having an allergic reaction to the Itraconazole. It seems easy to treat the disease but hard to treat the symptoms from the meds. Keep us posted on Miss Ellie, hope she starts to feeling better soon. |
It's hard to give meds b/c she has symptoms with and without and it is almost impossible to tell whether they are helping or hurting. Kellie, she could probably have it, but I have no idea what it would do to her poop. Isn't there a corn derivative in plain yogurt? If yes, then she couldn't. I think corn syrup would be fine since it's not grain protein. I'm really thinking about going back to her old diet and chancing the fat %. She did so well on it until the maker of the fish oil that I was suppposed to add got busted by the FDA. I changed things around (my fault b/c I didn't want to chance that copany's products) and here we go again (although even with that diet, she never really did get back to 100%). |
Praying for Ellie to get better - really soon. It takes such a toll on them and us! :) |

No. Starting with enzymes and Tylan and then changing one thing at a time. We have used fish oil before though and while it may have helped, she still gets symptoms. Lots of borborygmus. :( |
