thank you everyone, i just cannot think about this right now, i really want davinci back.

the vet is still at the conference, but left a message for me and said the specialist looked at the x-rays and doesn't think it was AAI, but think it was hydrocephalous and the malfomation of the back of the skull (occipital dysplasia)

mal-positioning with the atlus (sp?) so it is higher up than AAI, would have needed an MRI to diagnose

i don't know what all this means. i have an appt. at 3:30pm with him, i want him to show me the x-rays and explain to me. what happened to my baby?

does anyone know what all this means? please tell me. what questions should i ask the vet. i want davinci back.

(From a site) - occipital dysplasia: an incomplete ossification of the supraoccipital bone, causing a widening of the foramen magnum. The more brachycephalic is the shape of the dog's skull, the more likely there will be occipital dysplasia. (I'm still searching for you...)

Does anyone have a medscape acc't? This is an article on a toy poodle who had occ. dysp. and hydrocph - but I can't get to it.

occipital dysplasia: an incomplete ossification of the supraoccipital bone, causing a widening of the foramen magnum. The more brachycephalic is the shape of the dog's skull, the more likely there will be occipital dysplasia.

So, to translate this a little: the foramen magnum is the big "hole" at the base of skull/occipital bone where the spine goes in/out. Above there ("supra") there was something incomplete in the bone formation ("dysplasia" (cells gone wrong)) and the "ossification" has to do w/ "making bone" (in a nutshell).

Neck ligament: cruciate ligament of atlas. That's the "atlas" thing he was talking about.

OMG!!! My new sweet YT friends Yen & Davinci! This is so heart wrenching. :unlove: I can't believe what I'm reading right now!! Where was I yesterday. How come I didn't see this thread. I'm in shock and completely heartbroken for you Yen. You are in my thoughts and if there is anything I can do please please let me know even if it's just to talk or whatever or if you need help researching things or any questions you may have. I'm soo sorry this happened. It looks like you tried so hard to get Davinci help as fast as you could. This is just a real sad tragedy. I'm speechless and shocked right now. I'll be thinking about you and your loss. I'm soo soo sorry this had to happen. RIP Davinci. You'll be missed terribly. :(:(:(:(
