I'm a bad Momma-Groomer... and while doing a little clean up around Phoebe's naughty bits with a moustache trimmer that I always have used...somehow she got a razor burn!:( Her little goodie is so irritated that she is going insane trying to set it down on the cold tile floor to get some relief! I used some Sulfadene cream to try and relieve the pain & itch but, she won't leave it alone wanting to lick it and I'm worried about her ingesting any of the creme. Does anyone have any great home remedy idea's for a razor burn..."down there"? Me & Pheebs would appreciate any suggestions or it's gonna be a trip to the Vet's in the morning with my head hung low! |
I'm so sorry you gave her razor burn on her "naughty bits." I'm sorry I don't have any advice to share. Maybe a cone to keep her away from the cream? |
I keep Genticyn spray on hand at all times. It has an antibiotic and steroid in it and is excellent for minor abrasions and things of that nature. If you do not have that.... If you have an antibiotic ointment or steroid ointment, I would apply that lightly; but you need to also use an E-collar. You should use that anyway because if she keeps licking it, she is going to make it worse. |
Actually, the sulfadene is probably good to use....you just need to put an E-collar on her for sure! :) |
Where do you get Genticyn spray? That sounds like a remarkably handy thing to have around. |

I buy it from my vet. I have been using it for years. It is marketed under different names. Here is a link to it: Gentocin Topical Spray For Dogs: Pet Antiseptic Spray - 1800PetMeds It is good for itchy things ... keeps the itch down and they stop biting and licking. I swear by it! |
I am not versed in the topicals but I do have kiss-e collars. :) |
Maybe some plain ole safe Vaseline?? |
The Moustache Trimmer is in the trash... Thanks everyone...this morning she's a lot better! I ended up running out last night for some Benadryl Allergy tabs and that gave her some "itch" relief and she was able to actually sleep thru the night...(me, too!). It felt like back in the day having a newborn sitting up all night holding her just to keep her from licking at her owie...however...Mom To Hot Rod's "Kiss E Collar" sure would have come in handy! So, since checking out her collars, I'll be placing an order for Phoebe's near future surgery for Luxating Patella repair. Thanks again...:) |

I'm sorry about the naughty bits.... I just wanted to add that I just received my Kiss-E collar from Mom to Hot Rod and it is so cute and well made. Your girl will not be able to reach her bits if you get one! |
I always use diaper rash Cream for things like that. |
