Tammy, you are doing a GREAT job - you didn't do anything wrong. I am praying hard for Livi and her babies. |
Continued prayers Tammy. I will check back later for an update after your vet visit. |
Tammy, you, Livi, and the puppies are in my thoughts and prayers! I pray all goes well for you! |
My prayers are with you, The offer still stands if you need me to bottle feed them for you until they get big enough to eat on their own so you can focus on Livi, I would be more than glad to help. |
Just checking in on Livi and those babies. I'm sorry to see that another pup is acting weak. It's good that you're taking them all to the vet for an evaluation. Maybe your vet can give you a focused care plan. I think there's no magic bullet for dealing with your situation. With newborns, there's not much medical intervention that can be done, aside from sub-qing fluids. Keeping them fed, diapered and warm are their primary needs. My experience with hand feeding has been with the very small ones and I've used the eye dropper method. I know there are other ways but, if a baby is too weak to suckle, the dropper is very effective and is really your only alternative other than tube feeding. I'm frankly scared of tube feeding puppies, though I have tube fed baby birds. As you can see, there are many here that are very concerned for all of you. You have the support of all of us and everyone here is more than willing to help in any way they can. |

I'm sorry to hear Livi is not wanting to eat again and the babies are not doing well. Sending good thoughts, that you see a turn around soon. |
I am sending good thoughts and tons of prayers your way!!!!!!! |
Tammy just want to check for updates and let you know that we are praying for you and your family. |
All three puppies got fluids and glucose...Livi also had fluids. The vet said to go ahead and let them nurse...she feels that medicine should be out of her system. However, new problem (UGH!!!!)....Livi basically has no milk left. She only has two teats that have milk and they do not fill up well. Cinnamon is too weak to latch on and the other two are not a whole lot better. I will try the dropper, but guys...I just don't knwo at this point. These puppies were TRULY the picture of health and spunk....just five hours before that d**m pill!!!!!!!!!!! We asked the vet for something to help bring Livi's milk and she said that the Oxy nasal is what she wouldgive her. Problem with that, no one carries it. We, along with the vet, called a ton of pharmacies. I am heartbroken! |

Or if you can find some one locally who has a mom who's known to accept and adopt others pups, that may be an option. My mentor has several moms who she's used as nursemaids. |

I called my mentor and told her the problem, she suggested that a Tea of Fenugreek is the best thing for her right now, it supposely is mild enogh for her tummy and it will help her with milk production. she said to make the first cup Weak 12 onz of water per one bag of fenugreek and make her take it, seringe feed her if necessary, she NEEDS the liquids and nutrients, then keep her in half a cup daily. This is only a suggestion from my mentor who is been breeding for over 25 years. she breeds Alaskan malamutes and Havanesse . best of luck.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
hi hope she gets well very soon take care love denise and chico:aimeeyork |

I did hand feed my first litter of six. That was many years ago. I found that the eye dropper worked the best for me. It's a painstaking, time-consuming situation. Hopefully Livi will still clean them and let them attempt to nurse when they get stronger. That's the best I can offer. Sorry. Praying hard here. |
