So sorry for your loss... R.I.P. Jerry |
Update about Jerry Just so everyone knows, Jerry never did die of the cold, a bear attacked him as the vet said, one swoop of a bears claw made a deep cut in his back. Somehow this makes us much more at peace than imagine he was lost and frozen and we couldn't find him. No, instead a hungry bear, one of many that are more and more desparate because of all the destruction of there last habitat here in BC Canada, these bears are so hungry he tried to eat Jerry and we must have scared him away ... |
Somehow I feel relief too that little Jerry didn't freeze to death. I think it was over quickly and he didn't have to suffer and be scared as his life slowly slipped away as he was freezing to death. I am sad for you that you lost him. RIP little Jerry. |
I'm so sorry.At least he did'nt suffer. |
What a sad ending...I'm so so sorry. This breaks my heart for this little guy - and his family of:cry::cry: |
Oh my gosh. Tears welling in my eyes. I do agree, though. It seems easier to stomach to know it was a quick death by a bear versus freezing to death. Know that my heart goes out to you, your girlfriend, and your other furries. |

And if you know there are bears in the area why would you let your dog out to run free? I do not believe any of this and I think it is terrible of you to come on here and toy with peoples emotions. |
Well to answer your questions.. It was a bear or a cougar, both are very very rare to come and attack people or dogs in their home, but they are out there. We now think it was a cougar because bears should be asleep this time of year and only a cougar could have been sneeky enought to get Jerry from us by stocking the house for a few days. The cougar didn't get to eat his meal because Jerry isn't that easy to kill and was alive and within minutes big scary people where out looking for him. We didn't find the wound or blood - Because he crawled a short distance with his injurys and they didn't bleed that much most broken ribs and stuff from a swipe. It was cold out also, and the vet who did a otopsay said she couldn't tell until she shaved him down that this is what happened either, we didn't even look for anything here. So in the end, Jerry was problably a hero and fought a stalking cougar trying to protect the house and his wife. We didn't loose him, he was stalked and taken, and as far as having Yorkies and living in the mountains... I can't even imagine how to explain why people life normal lives deep in nature.. but everyone should at least spend some of their life like this its wonderful. So Jerry died a quick death, and he died a hero fighting with a large cat, saving us and his wife.. there is no way to die with more honour in my mind for a dog.. I am glad he got to die in peace outside beside a natural creek, on a beautiful night and not on some road and on a vets table... R.I.P. sweet and brave Jerry, you may have saved one of our lives, now we know there was a sneeky cougar out here... Plus our big dog went nuts last night for somethign in the bush.. If it was a bear we would hear it tear away, if a cougar we wouldn't see him or hear him... learn about cougars and you will see how wonderfully gifted animals they are. |

My job is done here and I do not intend to encourage you by responding to any more of your ridiculous posts and I urge others to do the same. DO NOT FEED THE TROLL |
ps, Jerry lived until 8, he was a yorkie but he live a very natural wild life. He hunted, he fished, he drank from the creek, he chased butterflies, he ran all day he gardened, he watched sunsets on a bluff, he loved being inside at night but he just loved outside too of course, he would cry and get depressed if he couldn't go smell around and do some serious laps around the garden.. We didn't let him go far but he did take regular adverntures and wonder, having fun with birds and things. We didn't own Jerry we were only his Lord and he had the best life ever. On the other hand I can't stand the idea of Dogs being used only as something to pet and cuddle with and then put away, the kind of owners that never let their dogs have a run or do anything a dog is meant to do in nature. And I know everyone here does all they can for their dogs, and they are happy so good for you. Jerry was 8, eight long years on the beach in nature.. he loved it. |
