| Symptoms of Ear Infection, Please? I am not sure if my Yorkie has an infected ear or is just itching. She has always itched her left ear. The last time we saw the vet we checked it and she found no infection. She has been itching more vehemently the last two days and sometimes yelps a bit because she itches so hard. I also have medicine from her last ear infection (previous owner) not old, should I try just using this or schedule a vet visit? She is eating and drinking okay. No real change in behavior, seems a little more sleepy. Looks perky. Maybe I'm worrying for nothing, but I just love her so much I don't want her to be in pain. Thanks for any input you can give. Bella appreciates it too! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would take her in again. Does the ear have a smell to it? Can you see gunk deep down in? This could an infection, or it could be from allergies as well. Does she chew/lick her paws at all? I'm in Phoenix (hi! ), and my Marcel has allergies, has to take Atopica for it. Right now, ragweed, grass, and chenopods are very bad -- even though the overall pollen count is down.

| When I took Kimbo for his 9 week immunizations, I told the vet that he was scratching his right ear and whining. He checked it and told me that the ear was fine. No infection. 3 weeks later, he was still doing the same thing. At our 12 week immunization, I told him again that Kimbo's ear was bothering him. He looked in his ear and immediately saw that the ear was infected. Maybe your baby has an ear infection in the earlier stages like Kimbo did. |
