| Peeing weird after getting spayed One of Mimi's pups got spayed the other day & she's been peeing strangely ever since. I've heard of things going wrong (esp w/these little ones)... I had her operation done at my vet's whom I trust & did dental work as well. Here's what she does: she'll pee normally, then couple seconds after she's gone...will go squat again. When she gets up from what seems like a long time, there's a tiny drop of pee! What's happening?? Her new owner took her to the vet (who didn't do the spay operation) & is now on antibiotics. Apparently, the spot where her stitches are has a little infection as well. They said to wait & see but I want to know if this has happened to anyone else?? What if it's something serious, like the urine tube got messed up in there?? Could it be UTI? I don't think so because UTI is uncontrollable peeing, right?? Sorry, worried grandma...

| It could be spay incontinence or a UTI or just a temporary post-surgery getting-back-to-normal issue. I would want a urinalysis to check for a UTI personally because they can happen after surgery.

| Thank you Crystal for responding! I was hoping you would...so we should do a urinalysis for UTI? or will the antibiotics take care of it? What she's doing could be UTI? I always thought it was when they couldn't hold the pee... I'm just asking because I'm so relieved that nothing serious went wrong in there, like something being severed or tied wrong... Oh! One more thing I forgot to mention, she did have a little bloody discharge from her pee area. 4 days after her surgery...very worrisome.

The very small drop after getting up sounds a bit like incontinence. Clavamox would take care of most UTIs if it is given at the right dose. Sometimes they do have trouble holding it with a UTI and sometimes you will see them going more. Last time the only reason I knew Ellie had one was from excessive drinking. I think she was going on the carpet though. Sometimes they do have urination issues for a few days post-spay/neuter though. If the antibiotic doesn't clear it up soon, can you talk to the vet who did the spay?

| The doc who did the operation wanted to see Princess again, but they live about 45 mins away. So they went to their regular doctor. We will def see how the antibiotics work & go from there. Possibly do a urinalysis or even have her go back to the original doctor who did the surgery. Thanks Crystal..you're a tremendous help for all of us here on YT!

| Update on the babies! Princess & Turbo (he got neutered) are doing very well! I talked w/their mommy today & the antibiotic (clavamox) cleared up Princess's urinary tract infection & she's peeing normally. There's no sign of infection in the stitched area & she's going to get it removed on Tues. Grandma is very happy.
