He has, however, held down the water he's been given at 4:50 and 5:20, and I just now (6:35 and 6:45) gave him a tablespoon of a broth+water (beef bullion cube super watered down) and he has held that down also. I'm going to try to keep giving him the fat-free broth water as it seems to tempt him more than plain water. Does that sound ok? | ||

BANNED! | Broth is very high in salt contentand not a good thing to feed him. Try pedialyte instead it will help level out his electrolytes. I suggest slowly introducing bolied chicken and rice, he needs to start eating or see a vet if he wont eat and hold it down. He has gone too long without food and can risk hypoglycemia. |

| Vet says it is my call - I can bring him in or keep him home and see how he is in the morning. I found some suero (a common rehydration packet) and gave him 2 tbsp - he would have taken more (in contrast to the broth that I really had to work at for him to drink) about 20 minutes ago and so far so good. |

| If he continues vomiting , please take him to the vet, he will only dehydrate more quickly from not getting enough fluids , and unable to hold anything down long enough to sustain him. how old is he? Is he also having direherra?

Thanks so much everyone - I'm going to start with boiled chicken and white rice tomorrow am along with more suero assuming all goes well tonight. If not, I have the vet's cell phone and will call him if need be. Thanks so much everyone for your help! It was such a comfort to have your ideas and advice with this, our first illness. | Argh. Suero at 1940, 2015, 2040, 2100, 2130 and 2210 and then he vomited (some, not all, obviously) at 2300 after taking a loooonnnnggg pee. He took more suero at 0115 and again at 0345 and no vomit (yet). He has been trembling though and I'm thinking that is a sign of pain? No yelping but ocassional tremors. |

If it is pancreatitis, he should be receiving nothing by mouth including water. He may need an IV and at the very least, anti-nausea meds if it is just a stomach bug.

| Quick update as I'm totally beat. He's staying at the vet until he can hold down water. Vet initially suspected a bacterial or viral infection. No fever - he's actually a little "cold" (as per vet). Vet gave him a shot for "colic" (all this was done in Spanish) and drew blood - went over results with me and (trying to remember) whites were high, neutros were high and something else - pointing to bacterial infection. He gave abx (no idea what) and something else, said he's not dehydrated but also gave enema or fluids rectally. Not sure what that was about. I'm pretty sure (not a fault of translation but remembering) that if Kilo isn't holding down water by 4pm he'll start him on IV fluids and keep him overnight. We're to come back around 4pm and see how he's doing. |

| Oh, one more thing - husbandito bought hte meat for the food we made - he said it was basically non-fat and not hte 80/20 I thought. So there was very little fat in the food we made (very lean ground beef, egg, oats, carrot). |
