my baby fell and hit her head help! we were playing frisbie and she jumped from my legs (i was sitting on the floor) she mislanded, fell and hit her head hard with the hardwood floor. she cried she seems fine but what could happen? thank u __________________ |
poor thing. |
watch to make sure she isn't lethargic or looking spacey. If she vomits get her to the ER vet... if her gums are grey- also to the ER vet.... otherwise just watch that she is eating, drinking and playing normal. Layla was dropped as a puppy (my lesson not to let kids hold her) and she was fine- a little dizzy for a few seconds but fine. |

I remember reading of one yorkie who died when a remote control hit him on the head. They have a soft spot that doesn't close for a while. Concussions also can happen through head trauma, and you should be looking for any signs of vomiting, as this can indicate something serious. I know with children, you look at the pupils to see if they are both the same size, I'm not sure if the same is true with dogs. You do it with a flashlight. I call the vet when something like this happens, and they tell me what to look for. If the vet isn't open, I call the emergency clinic. They don't always tell me to bring him in, sometimes they say it can wait, and bring him in if X occurs. Best of luck. |
it's been like 2 hrs and she seems fine. I'll keep an eye on her |
My sheltie fell and knocked his head on our hard wood floors, he ended up with a siezure disorder and is now on medicine. Im glad that your baby is ok, but for the next day or so I would def. keep an close eye on her. |
oh, my goodness, that is really scary. my 2 lb. mcdreamy fell only about 6 or 7 inches from the ground (slipped out of my hands) and hit his head. We STILL dont know if his injuries are going to be serious or not. If you read my post Saturday i think it was, it will explain everything that happened. He is not eating much at all, and has diarreha. dr. is going to put him on flagel tomorrow. its really scary. he's lost some of his balance when hes walking down the hall i notice now, and i am really concerned that hes not going to recoup from this fall. i hope i am wrong. My chorkie bumped her head under my bed and now seems sleepy and she was tearing I don't now if its 4 am n she just sleepy or what but she just wants to sleep I'm so worried she isn't puking or nothing n walks fine just seems sleepy. |
She was playing in my room running back n fourth n went under my bed she bonked her head but didn't cry n now seem sleepy I'm so worried |
Here is an article: Dog Head Injuries: Skull Fracture, Concussion, Seizure, and More Types I'm not sure of the whole history of this pup, but if you can I would take her to an ER to make sure...the reason I say this is because, better safe than sorry, and the fact that you are worried is cause enough for concern and perhaps an xray and exam will give you peace of mind. So sorry this happened, I know how worried you are as I would be too. Please keep us posted. ((((((Julie))))) |
I did said she bumped her head when she went under my bed to sleep took her in they said she looked great that prob bonked it to hard gave me metacam said if vomit or walking funny or anything non res. to bring her back in have her med when got home she slept bout her brought her in my room on my bed after taking it off frame so no more playing under my bed . That deserves a HUGE YAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!:good job::clapsmile:yay_jump: |
I'm so glad you had her checked by the vet and all is OK. You are a good mommy, even taking the bed off the frame. I didn't want Huey under our bed, either, so I just built a box out of 1x 6's to elevate the box springs off the floor, but it created a solid foundation under the bed. The only part of the bed he can get under is the 3" overhang of the box springs over the homemade frame. The frame is flush against the wall so there is no gap there. I didn't want anyplace in the house where he could get and I couldn't reach him. Just a thought, in case you don't want your mattress to stay on the floor. |
She is my baby I lost my beautiful yorkie girl in on April 11 and got Kali very next day because I couldn't bare to not have my Lucy n my mom found n bought me Kali n she saved me from days and days of sadness it was hard to bring new puppy in but it kept my mind off it staying busy with new puppy I'd take my time to morn my Lucy but in way I think Lucy helped us find her as strange as that sounds . But just like my Lucy I watch her n take her in even when I prob shouldn't |

She is being feisty as ever lol she is letting me know when she wants down by doing ur her lil growl she does it's the mom not cuddling now I wanna play lol sometimes she does this snip with it n I am trying to get her to stop with that she don't do it to me to often more so other people n I just take her in stern voice say no no and put her down and won't play with her then I re approach n she gets mommy not going to play with her when she is naughty girl. But she will not let lil bump keep her down she my normal feisty Kali |

Haha she is so cute my yorkie was black tan n had some lighter spots in face have pics of my yorkie on here to know |
But she started playing ate a treat n drank some my flavored water .
Is your flavored water sugar free? This would not be healthy and can be toxic to dogs. |
Yes it has nothing in it inputs gave her lil taste outta the lid wasn't eve table spoon vet said I could try lil sugar water but I just pored it in to my water bottle lid because I did want her to have a lot just enough to get her to show interest then she went to her bowl . He said sugar water to poss perk her up n get going on her food n water but I wasn't going to give blind amount n it be to much . Today we went back up there she is doing great n they gave me syringe marked off for me amount to give her if she ever would need karo syrup or sugar water . |

They told me to try that when I got home if she had any other issue n they sent her home with meds but only needed one time she was fine bout half hr later I think she was more tired then bump on head she never up at 3:40 am playing but thank you so much for info and what is the stuff your talking about is it something I can buy or need from vet ? I was told with the chi part that u til she older I have to watch for hypo more in her because chi get it more often then yorkie as baby , but I don't let her play to hard for long periods of time when she starts to get going I will kinda just walk away n let her calm down . N I think I o Er reacted taking her in but I wanted to be safe because she has conked bed before n been fine I think she was sleepy after all that play n I read more into it but I'm glad I took her in anyway because it worried me because I wasn't sure they said the sugar water only if she had issue that it would get me by from time had to give to time she made it in I live 3miles from vet so chances I'd have to use it are slim to none . But thank you so much for info. |
