raw hide bone problem I had quit giving my boys raw hide bones because Pippin almost chocked on a knotted one. My trainer told me that the long rolled ones were fine so I gave them each one yesterday. I think Marley may have chewed off too big of piece and has it caught in the lower part of his throat. He was weezing a little last night and my daughter wondered if it was the raw hide so we took it away. About an hour ago he woke me up weezing harder. Like he was trying to cough something up. It lasted a minute and he stopped. He did it again about 5 minutes later. I called the emergency vet and he said since his gums are pink and he seemed to be breathing alright that I could hold off until 10 o'clock and bring him in during their regular hours. I don't know if my nerves can handle wait a couple more hours. |
If you think hes got a piece caught in his throat I wouldnt wait untill 10. I would take him in |
I'm thinking the same as you. I'd never forgive myself if something happen to him because of a money issue. I hadn't brought up the cost with the vet. He told me it would be ok to wait but I'm having doubts if its a good idea to wait. |
I would be afraid that he could get to where he cant breathe |
I just woke my adult daughter up and we're going to take him in now. |
Let us know what you find out. Ill be praying for him |
He's ok. We just got back from the vet. It was reverse sneezing. She said it may have been caused by alergies. That she has noticed that raw hide bones from Thialand are coated with something that bothers a lot of dogs. I had picked up cheap bones from Walmart and maybe that's what caused the attack. What a big relief. I am to give him a teaspoon of benadril. Because they are an emergency clinic they did not have dog alergy medicine on hand. |
