Dog Warts (canine papilloma virus) Contagious? Help! I'm moving into a new apartment next month with my yorkie baby, the apartment has another terrier mix who we just met tonight that has a wart above its eye. The terrier mix is 1 years old, and so is my baby. Is this something I should worry about? Will she spread warts to my yorkie? Does anyone have experience with warts and multidog households? Please advise! |
My Tanj has warts and has lived with 4 different dogs, none of them got warts. |
If it is indeed canine papilloma virus, yes it's absolutely contagious. It can bascially be described like the chicken pox virus. There really isn't a cure for it. It just has to take it's course. They're mainly found inside their mouth, upper/lower gums, sometimes around the sanitary area or even in between their paw pads. It can sometimes start out looking wart like but then progress into something more, almost like a small white looking worm. Look up papilloma virus on a search engine and take a look at the pictures. That will give you a better idea if in fact that's what you're dealing with. |
Oops sorry I was referring to the run of the mill wart that stays a wart. |
