I agree with you. Knowing that Busters blood sugar was low I don't know why the vet thought he could fast for 10-12 hours for blood work!! I was soooo upset when I found out that they hadn't even done the blood work! I won't be bringing anymore animals to them even though everyone around us told us that it was the place to go. We will find another vet! I have already been asking around. Thank you for your post. Michelle

Doctors work by the process of elimination..That is how they reach diagnosis..Chances are they knew what they were dealing with..and they probably knew the outcome was not promising. Working with animals can be rewarding and very heartbreaking..I had a similar experience when working at the vet hosp. A customer purchased a very tiny, sick chihuahua from a petshop and brought it in for a puppy check up. He took a turn for the worst and we immediatly put him on iv. fluids..the owners went back to the petstore for a refund..The owner of the petstore came to our hospital and demanded the puppy be taken off Iv.and returned to him..( did not want to Pay for treatment)..although puppy was improving. The petshop owner would get his money back if the puppy died..it was not the life of the puppy that mattered..it is a dirty, rotten, sinful business. I could not believe it..I went to the petstore and pleaded to the petstore owner to please let me take "Jimmy" back to the hosp. for treatment..He agreed as long as I paid..I didn't care.. at this point..Jimmy was in a shoebox under the counter at the petstore..basically dying. I cried..I wanted to literally kill this man. I took him back to the hosp. with me and immediatly began treatment again..but it was too late..He died the following morning. The vet I worked for was wonderful..he never charged for the treatment..I made sure that everyone in my town knew of the horrible incident and to never purchase puppies from this petshop..he closed down a year later...I still think of Jimmy, and I am happy that the truth about puppymills is out..but there is still much work to be done...Thanks for doing all you could for your baby..You will be rewarded.

I am so sorry for your loss. This is such a sad story. A friend of mine just got a yorkie puppy right before Vday and I Just found out today that the puppy was very sick with parvo and ended up not making it. She is having a really hard time with it. I am going to point her to this thread. Sometimes I think it just helps to know that you are not the only one going through a though time. I wish you the best of luck in your search for a new puppy. I know you will give it a great home.

| What is there left to say, there are soooo many experiences and sound advice. Your situation is just too sad for words. I am so glad that your Buster Brown found you! You were so loving and dedicated to him. I hope you find all the love and happiness that these small wonders bring!

Well with everything that has happened with Buster last week we have learned a lot. You guys have been great and we want to say once again thank you for all your help. We have done a lot of thinking and a lot of research on a new baby for our family. We believe we have found him. He is not with us yet but by next weekend we hope to have our new family member at home with us. We will not be going into much detail about him right now. We are hoping everything works out and I will just tell you that we have seen him and he is beautiful. And it seems that he is coming from a wonderful home. There are several people out there that already love him and want the best for him. To all of you that read this thread. The number one life lesson that you should learn as we did is DO NOT BUY FROM PET SHOPS! If you find a breeder the prices are not much different but the quality is the big difference. My family will be one on the list helping in anyway to shutdown puppymills!! We have learned a lot from all of you that have helped and talked us through our experience!
