In this thread she said Lexie has been with us three days. Posted Monday June 16, 06-16-2008, 06:51 PM in the thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...i-s-home.html] "so we finally moved into the new apartment.. we finished moving so early that i could not help but ask my boyfriend if we could PLEASE go pick up Lexi :jump28ib:... (we were planning on picking her up the next day). but he said YES!! shes been with us 3 days and im already in love :luvu: i know shes really young... " No word about illness. On Tuesday the 17th, and Wednesday 18th various postings; none relating to illness. It wasn't until this post on Thursday she mentioned illness This post was Thusday im so heart broken http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...rt-broken.html, a "06-19-2008, 03:04 PM so.. i dont know how many people know... but i just got Lexi this past weekend.. we brought her to the vet monday and found out she had two different parasites in her stool.. so the vet gave us medicine for her to take for 10 days. this morning when i woke up, i tried feeding her her usual mooshed up science diet. but she wouldnt eat it. even at lunch time she wouldnt even take a bite. so i gave her nutrical... she wouldnt even eat that! about 30 mins later she threw up... so about an hour later we had to use a sarenge (sp) to feed her more moisted science diet with water. she didnt like it much..... but she threw that up. i noticed earlier today her poop was really dark and tar-like. she just was not herself..... even more quiet than usual. so i called the vet and made an appointment. guess what........ she has parvo i just feel so helpless." People were extremely upset that the vet sent the puppy home, and wondered if this was the true diagnosis, or perhaps there was some misunderstanding. |
Glad to hear Lexi is doing better...keep up the good work...you're a great mom!!!:D:D:D |
well imsorry if i didnt mention that she was acting like ANY other puppy that gets placed in a new "scarey" home.... its normal for them to act scared, to sleep alot, or even have diahhrea or vomiting. so i didnt think much of it. |
YAY! She sounds like she's feeling good :) When we first brought Abby home, getting her to drink was a big challange! She was 10 weeks old then too, so hang in there and keep pushing the fluids, as you are. Did the doctor tell you how much she should be drinking? I really have no idea and just sort of winged it. I wish you all the best... :) |
Allison I am sorry you are offended by what Villette said but we have had MANY people come on here and take us for an emotional ride and it isn't long before people start noticing inconsistencies in the story (i'm not saying this is what is going on with you, but why people are questioning you) and it turns out that the poster made up the whole thing to get attention and/or money. I am not up to date on your story but if your pup is in fact sick, don't get upset and defensive, we just want to know we are supporting someone who needs the help, so just calmly respond and tell your story. |
Allison, First I want to say how glad and relieved I am that Lexi is doing so well. I have been on here for 3 1/2 years and have seen many postings about parvo. When someone posts their dog has it I imediately feel dread and empathy because it is usually followed up by a post saying the pup has passed. I know everyone who was on this thread was emotional about Lexis condition. It is really a miracle with Lexi recovering so quickly and you dont see very many miracles. I hope you dont leave as I said I believe your thread made quite a few people emotional |

your right... i need to breathe. thats just one of my pet peeves.. i HATE it when people assume things.. like today, for instance.. when i was at work.. i work at sears in the electronics department. and this guy whom i had been talking to about this tv just stops and asks me if i go to school. i said yes... he said whats your major? i told him im undecided... (im only a newly sophomore). he laughed and said "ohhhh its kids like you that go into general studies then work at burger king.. what a loser" he said this all with a grin on his face. i looked at him and realized he was wearing an southeastern louisiana university (my college) nursing tshirt on.. and i told him "well i wanted to go into the nursing program, but i think the teachers are ignorant" ;) grrrr but im sorry... i made a mistake, obviously, on a post. i didnt do it on purpose. everything is just jumbled.. there was SOO much going on... i just moved into my new apartment, i got my new puppy, puppy got sick, i had school and work.. vet bills, two exams... all in ONE week. *sigh* i feel better |

the night Lexie was really doing poorly she was still at home ....and when a puppy has parvo they HAVE TO BE ON AN IV especially one that young and small. It's getting hard to help someone here when they get so defensive - there were alot of people on here that night when Allison posted hoping about how sick the puppy was ....pleading with her to get to the vet - which she did ...people posted to her because they wanted her to save her puppy. Being home with parvo ....she may not have made it. No one made any assumptions...she recovered really really fast which is great but a little surprising......no one wants to hear a dog has parvo...parasites are very treatable - parvo is normally much harder. oh ps Allison - post counts have NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING on this site. We care about puppies and were trying to help you. That's all. either way - I'm done with this thread. I'm glad she's better |
Allison, just wanted to tell you that I am so happy your story had a happy ending and Lexi is doing so well. That's wonderful. You have really come threw for her and got it together. Congratulations and I wish you both a happy life together. |
:cheer:Happy to hear Lexi has shown drastic signs of improvement!!! I have to admit, I was one of those YT'ers that was so worried when I heard she had Parvo and the vet allowed her to go home. I too was fearful for the life of your puppy...you asked for advise and took it...thank goodness. All is good...Lexi is a strong little girl...willful...and I do hope and pray she will win this battle with Parvo, because many, many don't. All we, as Yorkie owners can do is our best, thank you for doing your best...it probably saved Lexi's life. You deserve a hug!!! |
