| If it were me, I'd watch and see what the urine looks like for the rest of the day. Watch his water intake..is he drinking more, less, or normal? Is he urinating more frequently, less frequently, or normal? If the dark spots continue, I'd get him checked out for a UTI. If it is blood, he could have crystals or stones. I suggest a blood panel as well to rule out any major problems as well. A lot of times when they've been at the groomer for the day, they don't get anything to drink. They are nervous, panting, and usually have dryers put on them. He's most likely just dehydrated

| If she is drinking normal, I would think stones. If she pees that drak again, I would be at the vets.

| Brown urine many times is actually blood in the urine. I have been through this with my yorkie. I would be at the vet's office letting them take a urine sample to check for UTI, crystals and/or stones.

| Dark yellow urine is well concentrated (he may have been holding that puddle for a while). Dogs that are dehydrated will also have dark urine, as may pets with liver problems. How old is your Yorkie? If she had been at the groomers all day without drinking she could have gotten a little dehydrated or he may have held his urine too long. If the problem continues then I would get it checked. Last edited by bjh; 03-01-2008 at 07:27 AM. |

| Thanks for the response, my Gracie is almost three and is very special to us. I called the vet yesterday, and they said to watch her for now and try to get a urine sample, that would be difficult since she is not one to do what you want her to, it's always her way. If we see the brown again, we will take her in. Thanks to all who responded, it's nice to talk to others who love Yorkies. |

| If you need to take her in because of more brown in her urine, just take the peed pad with you I mean, seriously, how the heck do you get a urine sample from a dog anyway? Mine wouldn't go if I was hovering behind them with a tupperware bowl!

| Use a large spoon or ladle. it works every time. I have to hide the spoon and then as soon as my dog goes down to pee, i quickly put the spoon under her. Then put the urine in a sterile container and refrig. Take it to the vet right away. Try to make sure the urine is as fresh as possible. If it is UTI the vet will prescribe antibiotics to clear the infection. |

| I would just let the vet take it if it is a big problem to get one or if it needs to be "clean".
