Please pray for Rocco... Hi Everyone, Please pray for my little guy Rocco. I noticed he wasn't feeling well since the night of Christmas Eve. Yesterday he wasn't himself and wouldn't eat. He was vomiting bright yellow stuff a couple of times yesterday, i thought he only had an upset stomach but thought to myself, if he's not better by tomorrow (today) I'm taking the day off from work and taking care of him and going to the vet. well this morning he was acting normal again (running around and playing) I even got him to eat a little. Well when I got home from home, he hadn't done number 2 and didn't want to eat or even have his favorite treat. So I decided to take him to the vet because he just didn't seem "right". Turns out my baby has Pancreaitis (sp) She said I had to leave Rocco overnight and put him on an IV for a few days until his pancreas heals. I started to cry when she said that. I just want him to get better! So please say a little prayer for a speedy recovery :aimeeyork I'm going to the vet's office as soon as they open (8am) I will keep everyone posted. If anyone has gone through this their Yorkie, did your baby fully recover. I'm just a worried mess, I want to go to sleep, but I think I'm going to have a hard time doing that. Thanks Everyone, |
I'm so sorry to hear this :( Rocky, Bella and I are sending get well wishes, and you and Rocco are in our prayers. |

Sorry to hear about your little Rocco. Pancreatitis is such a problem during the holidays when dogs eat fatty foods they shouldn't have. While it can be very serious, even life threatening, most dogs recover and do fine if they aren't given any foods that can trigger pancreatitis. You want to make sure he doesn't get it again, though, as I'm sure you will once you get the bill. :D A co-worker's father gave her Yorkie a tiny piece of ham over Thanksgiving a few years ago. Sugar got very, very ill and ran up a $1,500 bill at the emergency vet's. You better believe no one ever fed her table scraps again! Here's some information: http://www.peteducation.com/article....&articleid=335 |
Hi Lady's Mom, That's EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED!!! My mom's friend dropped ham on the floor for Rocco and another puppy that was at the xmas party, and I was like "NOOOOO!!!!" but it was too late and Rocco ate a piece. I will admit I gave him a little TINY piece:doh: , that's why i screamed "NOOOO!" I feel SO GUILTY. and about the vet bill...yup, it will cost me around $1,000. Even though that's alot of money, I just want Rocco to recover and after this ordeal, this will definately not happen again. My nerves are a WRECK. Thanks so much for the info. |
praying for Rocco. How scary. I have never heard this before & I'm visiting my parents with the yorkies & this sounds like something my mom would do. And there is so much ham leftover from Christmas - everyone is off to bed, but I'll tell them in the morning no ham! Praying for a quick recovery! |
This is from the American Humane Society Society on holiday dangers: Fatty foods can cause digestive upset, as can bread dough, nuts, and other "people" foods. Traditional holiday foods such as turkey, ham, and other fatty foods can cause pancreatitis in some animals. Stomach upset, vomiting, and diarrhea can occur if pets consume these items. Limit table scraps, and let your guests know as well. |
We're sending off some prayers for little Rocco... Ladymom, That's very good information that was posted... there are a lot of people (and babies) who will benefit from this kind of knowledge being shared. |
Prayers from us to you and Rocco. Hugs and yorkie kisses. :animal-pa |
Hi Everyone, Well I went to visit Rocco at the animal hospital and he's doing better, they are going to try to feed him and see how he reacts to the food. The vet is supposed to call me in a few hours. I was so happy to see him, he took a mini-nap on my lap. Thanks for the prayers! -E |
My shakespeare had the same thing a week ago. I gave him dry food when I left and he was eating it. Whem I came back there is vomit all over the place. I was like ahhhhh:eek: what happened??!!?? Then I smelled all of them because we have three and I found out it was shakes. He was cold and not very active. so I rush him to the vet and did some blood and fecal test and found out that he has pancreatitis and had to leave him there for a couple of days for IV treatment. I was worried the whole time but the vet said he will be fine. So I took his advice.... He is back now and happy as can be. So I think your furbie will be okay too.;) |
