I just put Frontline on and my baby keeps licking...will this hurt her? I just put Frontline on two of my dogs after finding a flea on one of them. Now my Yorkie keeps licking herself. She cannot reach where I put the frontline, of course, since it is on her shoulder, but can this hurt her? I am so worried...she keeps trying to itch and I keep pushing her away, but i cant do this all night. Help Laura |
Have you used Frontline before? Ever a problem? I would use a wipe or washcloth and get off as much as possible, just to be sure it didn't drip down her side where she can reach it. Then dry with a towel. Other than the licking, is she acting okay? (by licking, you mean she is trying to clean it off right? not just licking her lips? I ask because when they lick their lips it can be a sign of difficulty breathing) |
Thanks, she is just licking her skin, not her lips. She is sleeping now and it is almost dry, so I guess it is okay. I assume it is okay if she licks herself onece it drys, right, because she licks alot. |
well many dogs have a reaction to frontline. I personally cannot use any topical meds on Diggy. I use sentinnal its a heartworm and flea preventative in one pill. I hope your baby is better and maybe try doing some research on frontline to see if that is the best flea preventative for you. |
I worry about using Frontline too so I use the pill forum "Program" . What diggy uses is better for young dogs if you ever decide to change. |
the only topical flea med. i can use on my 11 yr. old yorkie is puppy revolution. she weighs five lbs. but the amt. and strength seems to be enough to keep the fleas off. it also conatins heart worm preventative. |

if she licks it it wont hurt her, i think if you read the info it will say it may make her dribble or have a foamy mouth but she will be fine, if a cat gets any of it on them though it can kill them. dogs can have a reaction to frontline though, zac does, he sees things, hides, shakes, and gets red blisters all over his belly so you will know if shes having a reaction or not. im guessing shes prob just licking cos she can feel something wet on her. |
Those are toxic chemicals that are going into her bloodstream through the skin...Yes, she can be having a reaction to it. In no way is foaming at the mouth or drooling normal..A dog who exhibits these behaviors is having neurological symptoms from the toxins... |
