| Do you play "Tug of War" with your Yorkie? Hi Everyone, I know I've heard a lot about how you shouldn't play Tug of War with your dog because it can cause aggression. But I do play it with Baby. The reason I do is this...when I go to take the toy out of her mouth she starts to pull back, hence we're now playing Tug of War. When I take my hand off, she comes back towards me and either puts her paw or the toy in my hand as to say, "pull it more Mommy." She never gets mad if I try to take it or runs away with the toy. I think maybe it feels good on her teeth. What do you all think? Thanks!

| I also sometimes play with Daisy Mae.. However, when it seems like she is really growling or getting aggressive I stop.. |

| It sounds like you need to teach her how to "drop it". I think from what I've read you offer her a treat and she "should" release the toy and you say "Good girl, drop it" and give her the treat. Somebody else may chime in and be more specific. I was just reading that earlier today but we haven't learned it yet ourselves!

If I want Baby to drop something that I don't want her to have I shake the treat box and she 'comes a runnin'. Or, I hold up something else in my hand and say, "trade." Sometimes she gives it up, sometimes not. We're still working on that. But if she has her toy and I want to play TOW with her I don't see anything wrong with playing with Baby. I just wanted to know how others handle this.

It is a great way to tire out a dog and also a ton of fun for them. Rules of engagemnt are 1. you start it by saying take it. (toy) 2. Teeth come in contact with your hand ever. Game over. Dogs know where you start and they end. They should have a good bite control. Sometimes they do make an oops just stop the game they will do better next time. 3. you end it. You ask for a drop it even if it is in trade for a treat and game is over till the next time. Know they can ask you if you would like to play anytime but you start by the ok and stop with the give it to me or all done. Joy | |

| I do this with Starsky. And when I don't he jumps or scratches on me to play. He will wrap both his paws around my arm while he tugs on the ball with his teeth. He stands on his two feet. It really is quite cute. But I was wondering, when does this become bad for their teeth or does this help them?

| Hobbs loves to play Tug-O-War. I have always heard that it is perfectly fine to play this game with them as long as you never let them win. That way they will always know you are the boss. |

| I worried about it too, when he was little, but~ It is ALL HE WANTS TO DO! So we do it. He hasn't turned into a crazed pit bull because of it so we're ok. Nothing against pit bulls...
