| New Year's weight loss resolution? Hello all, I just wanted to post and see how everyone's weight loss resolutions are going?? I wouldn't even define mine as a New Year's resolution, as I didn't start my lifestyle change (I don't like the word "diet" as they don't work, and if you really want to see results that last a lifetime, you have to do a "lifestyle change!") until a few weeks into January! Either way, I have been going to the gym 3-4 times a week, and eating no more than 20 carbs a day. I'm doing the healthy approach to no-carb though, lots of grilled chicken, eggs, salads, veggies... and in five weeks I have lost 24 pounds. I'm so excited, and am very much looking forward to getting into a bathing suit for the first time since before I had kids! Anyone else on here still have their resolution going strong... even if it's not weight loss??!!

I run 5 miles a day and eat the best I can , I know it suc*s but slow is the way. If you do it slow and easy the weight will not come back. It's when you do it fast that the weight comes back. Maybe I am wrong, it just seems like a lot of weight for 5 weeks. I do wish you all the best though. | |

| Well, Congratulations on your success so far. That is fantastic Lowering carbs is a great approach to better health, as well as weight control. In 1999 I decided to shape up for the new millenium, and adopted low carb lifestyle, and lost 30 lbs. which I have managed to keep off for 11 years now. Whenever I put on a few pounds, I just back off on the carbs again, and quickly take it off. Are you near your goal, or how much more are you hoping for? Be careful though, once you do reach your goal weight, it takes a while to stabilize, where your body accepts that as normal. If you add back too many bad carbs too quickly, you will gain back even faster than you lost.

| If only carbs weren't like crack..... sigh..... I didn't make a resolution. I love carbs way too much. But since I quit smoking last July (yea me!) I have packed on some pounds. I may be inspired to start a lifestyle change - beginning Monday. LOL Congratulations to you on your weight loss though!

| I may a promise to myself to be active again. I have been blessed with the ability to drop pounds very quickly just by becoming more active. Unfortunately, packing on the pounds is just as quick too! I keep telling myself I want to lose 20 lbs, but since I moved back in with my parents, I think I've gained 7 more! It evens out with the 7 I lost since getting my little furbaby. Sigh.... it's so hard to be motivated. Support group anyone???

| Lifestyle change to lose and maintain that new you is the way to go. I did that end of January 2009 and lost 75lbs. I have another 25 or so to go and am working on that. I also stay out of fast food places and avoid processed food. I bought a pedometer last month and go for walks as well as normal chores and work. I put it on in the morning and it charts everything for me including steps which is converted to Kilometers, g of fat burned calories burned that sort of thing. Great toy and gets me walking and moving. |
