| Thanks so much for sharing. I think as long as we continue to treat Abby as our little princess and give her priority she will be fine. Of course, the newcomer must play nice. We believe in the long run is best for her to have a buddy. |

| Yes, Abby must always come first, first to be greeted when you come home, first to have her food bowl set down, first to be handed a treat, this way she does not feel she is being replaced, and most important, she must have a safe haven, a get-a-way area s have her own peace and quiet if the new fellow wants more play then Abby wants to give.

| Thanks again for all the input. I will post photos once we do the adoption. I am kind of nervous and anxious right now. He is a rescue. At this point I don't have much information as far as how he ended up in a shelter etc. We are willing to work with him as long as he and Abby do well together. I was told that it takes about three weeks for the two to get to accept each other etc. My husband wants a bigger dog, so a bigger Yorkie works for him. |

| I can just imagine your excitement. As far as it taking 3 weeks for Abby to accept this new comer that is not necessarily correct, it depends on the dogs. Each dog is different, it could take longer. I tell you this in case 3 weeks go by and Abby is still not confident being around the new guy, do not be disappointed and think Abby doesn't like the new lil fellow, she needs more time but, she will come around. Rescues are rough because in most cases you never know their back ground, what they went through, if they were abused, lived on the streets before being found. Everything with a rescue is taken in baby steps. When they come to a new home there are many adjustments they will be going through. New smells, new sounds, new routines / schedules, new BFF and new humans. That's a lot for a dog. First you have to gain their trust. It will be an interesting ride for sure lol. I was very lucky with my rescue, he was a surrender, not an abused dog and came to me spoiled rotten. His was surrendered for financial reasons, he bonded with me the day I took him home. I know his entire history because his prev. owner asked, who ever adopted him would they keep in touch and let them know how the dog was doing. I did do that, 5 years later I still text and send pics of him. Not everyone is as fortunate as I was. You will do just fine, you are giving a precious baby a 2nd chance in life, a good, loving, secure home where he will be spoiled as he should be. Looking forward to photos. Have you selected a name yet.

| Thanks so much for the needed advice. His name is Archie. Not sure I want to change it. The lady at the rescue says he is a wonderful little dog. Gets along with everyone and with other dogs. We would be lucky to have him. |

| Archie is a cute name, its great that he is dog friendly, that alone should make Abby more comfortable. I do hope it works out and you can get this lil guy.

| Awww don't be nervous, it's not like you are getting a wee lil baby and needing to pad train and all that goes with caring for a baby. Having 2 yorkies is not a lot more work especially when the 2nd one is an older one. Abby will love having a BFF once she feels confident being around him. And you will be saving a baby that was thrown away for what ever reason. Today is the big day, go see this lil fellow, you will know if he is right for you big HUGs to you

| Hi, not so good news. We didn't adopt him. He is in a shelter with a bunch of other dogs. He has kennel cough and was limping. She said he was fighting with another dog. :-( We didn't like the fact that were the dogs were running was dirt, no grass, no concrete. So, we keep looking. |

| So sorry to hear this, shelters are so cramped fights do break out. I hope he's being treated for that kennel cough, he'll never get adopted as long as he has it. Everything happens for a reason, you will find that perfect match for Abby, just keep your hopes up and keep looking HUGS.

| Hi there. Do you think a Yorkie od 4.4 pounds is too small? My Abby is 6 pounds. I worry about their health or a hawk picking him up. |

| I have never owned a yorkie that was under 9 Lbs. I have had all big girls, one at 9 lbs, 2 at 13 Lbs, my last girl was 17 Lbs, my rescue boy is 12 Lbs. With these wee lil ones under 5 Lbs you have to be very careful and not let them jump off furniture, even Abby at 6 Lbs you shouldn't have her jumping off sofa or beds. And absolutely you must be vigilant and watchful for hawks, falcons, eagles any prey bird even if you are leash walking them, these prey birds have been known to swoop down and snatch a tiny dog while the owner was walking it on its leash. I am even watchful with my 12 pounder. A prey bird could swoop down and snatch him, if he is to heavy for the bird it will release / drop him but, the damage from the birds talons could be fatal. I have read these tiny yorkies have more health issues and more teeth issues. This not to say do not get a 4.4 pound baby, that would be your choice. However, we do have many members with wee lil babies, these members must be in early hibernation for the winter that they are not coming forward with information on their wee lil ones.

| Meet and Greet Hello to all, We have another opportunity to adopt a rescue. He is in a foster home. He is 3 years old, 7 pounds with a nice disposition. We meet him tomorrow. He is black and tan. I will post a photo once the adoption goes through. Looks promising. |
