How to introduce my new Yorkie to my 7 month old Yorkie?? Hi Guys, I was just wondering if any one could give me any tips on introducing my new yorkie to my 7 month old yorkie? My Yorkie i have now is named Ruby and she's my baby (very spoiled) and is just a suck. I notice she gets a little jelous if i pay attention to other dogs. I haven't gotten my new Yorkie yet because she is only 1 month old and still at the breeders house with her mom. I get my new Yorkie (Bella) at the end of October. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! -Athina |
Introduce them in neutral territory, i.e., not in your home. Maybe a park somewhere? DOn't for any interaction, but always give your first Yorkie attention, food, treats, first. It will take awhile for the first one to accept the new one. In my case, Sophie was 6 mos old when I brought home another one. It took her a week of pouting, sulking and ignoring Daisy, then one morning she woke up in love with her. |
The first time I introduced Mitsou to Jade , it was at my home . I placed Jade in her xpen and let Mitsou go where ever she wants in the house . Half an hour later , I took Jade out . They were both adult dogs , I never had to separate them . |

I did this...I think it was important...even at that, it still took 3 weeks! They can't be without each other now...both are still very jealous but I expect that... |
How do I chose a puppy? Last week was my first visit to the breeder's house to take a look around and make sure i want one of her pups. Well i decided to take one. There are two females and one male (the breeder is keeping the male). I have my female Yorkie now (Ruby) and wanted another female, so it works out great. The breeder said that i can come back in two weeks to pick which girl i want because they are to young right now to see what their personalities are like. So i get to go back next week. I'm so excited but i have no clue how to pick which one i want. The breeder i went to for Ruby had the pups sold before they were born so I got the one the breeder chose for me (i'm not complaining because i absolutely love my little girl) but i had A LOT of problems with the breeder and thats why i didn't go back to her for my second pup. I know i'm going to want to take both puppies home but i also have to find the pup that will best match Ruby. Any ideas? Thanks! -Athina |
