| What would you do? (sorry, long) Something happened this morning that makes me really angry...on a couple of levels, but mainly b/c Max's safety is concerned. Several months ago, the house next door to us, which had been vacant for over a year, sold. Who exactly it sold to, I don't really know. What I DO know, is that there are several (I think 3) young adult Hispanic males living there. We live on a VERY quiet cul de sac and the adjoining streets which are also cul de sacs, are also extremely quiet. You wouldn't know that anyone actually lives here most of the time b/c you rarely see anyone outside. So these guys move in. For the first few weekends they lived there, they had SCREAMING loud parties....the heavy bass stereo booming with all the doors open, tons of friends over, laughing and cursing outside until 5 in the morning . Somehow, that came to a screeching halt (not sure what happened, but they've been pretty quiet since then). They still have tons of people over and these people seem to think that their yard, and the surrounding area is their own personal disposal area; fast food containers, utensils, beer bottles and cans; drink cups etc. And cigarette butts .

| Most places have laws that you need to keep your property looking neat and clean, or you will be fined. If I were you I'd get ahold of a city person and complain. Somebody would probably be sent out to look at the place, and give a warning to clean it up.

| hmmm well I'm a college student and I live in a college town so I've been pretty used to obnoxious neighbors. We had these 4 guys across the street who were out of control. Not only were they loud but they like to yell racial slurs early in the morning (I know who does that), they also had more than one party with blatant drug use and girls screaming, crying, and cursing in the front lawn. Well after about a month of this I decided to call the cops on them anonymously. All you have to do is call the cops and say that you don't want ur name brought up and they are a disturbance. I did this about twice and they got the point. (Also I think that other neighbor were calling the cops too) The rest of the time they were respectful. Though we did have an incident where me and my friend went to walk to a friends house and they called us "Whores." (my friend was a male ) anyways we called the cops to teach them a lesson and the party was dispersed when I went home that night. I hope I helped!

| I went just through the same situation. Last year, someone bought the house across the street and over a bit from me and decided to rent it out. The tenants he rented to played loud music at all hours of the night, had wild parties, watched X-rated movies in the garage on a big screen tv (refusing to put the garage door down), and had an aggressive pit bull that they refused to keep on a leash and tried to attack me on my own patio one afternoon. And this was just for starters. So what I did was find out who the owner of the house was through tax records and I sent him a letter explaining what was going on. I also mentioned that they were tearing his house apart. I wrote him and the home owners association a new letter every week and two months later they were gone and the house is now up for sale. I guess that won't help if they own it. If they only rent, it might be a place to start.

| You can call code enforcement with out giving your name, and they will come out and take a look.

| Oops....I didn't finish.... anyway, this morning I found a bottle cap from one of their beers in our back yard on the lawn . This really pisses me off b/c first of all,and most importantly, Max tends to put everything in his mouth, and since I've found other usually inedible things in his poop, it wouldn't surprise me if he picked something like that up and swallowed it . Along with the fact, that it's annoying as all getout to have them tossing their garbage over into our yard . So, if it were you, would you say something to them, or just let it go? Is there a way to find out who owns the house? I don't want to make enemies of these guys, but I don't want them or their friends doing this stuff. It's bad enough to have their yard be trashed, but I don't want ours to look like theirs! And I definitely don't want Max getting sick or injured!

| You could confront them if you want...I doubt they will change..probably just make things worse for you and then if you do end up having to call the police they will definetly know it was you since you were the one at their door complaining...I would go to the authorities and let them handle it...then they will never know it was you complaining.. YIKES!! That's really scary! I have a feeling that at least one of these guys might be the owner...either that, or maybe all of the guys went in together to buy it (the reason I think this, is b/c as soon as the house was sold, the realty company had a cleaning person over there and the next day, these guys were moving in). So I've been thinking that at least one of them is an owner, but maybe someone else could have bought it and leased it out? I don't know how to find out . Oh..also, the front yard was being maintained by gardeners up until the time of the sale, and not one single thing has been touched since these guys moved in. Almost anywhere around here if you're renting or leasing, pays for gardeners b/c they want the yard kept up, so I am afraid I'm right about them owning it. How do you go about finding out thru the tax records?

| Hmmm..that sounds like a good idea! The house next door to them wasn't trimming one of their trees and finally someone must have complained since it was drooping all over the sidewalk (altho, I'm the only person I've ever seen walking around here ) and now it's all trimmed up. Interesting the way people take care of homes they don't own themselves. Although, we're leasing too.

| You need to contact your local authorities about this..you and your neighbours shouldn't have to put up with this at all!

| Thank you! I like that idea! In fact, when we first moved into this house, the back yard was just a bunch of sand b/c the owners didn't want to put the $ into it unless they knew they had someone renting it....and when they had it landscaped (of course it was AFTER everything was finished) a city code enforcment guy came by b/c SOMEONE (more than l likely the people behind us since they'd be the ones affected) had called and was concerned about the yard being levelled (before, there was a sort of drop off at the back end where the wall separating the properties is, and a drainage hole in the walls in case of flooding....they were worried that they'd blocked up the drainage and thought that some of the landscaping might need redoing. Luckily, that wasn't the case and nothing needed to be done, but we really don't know WHO it was (and it really doesn't matter to me, since it's not MY house), so obviously, you can do things like that and they wouldn't know for sure who it was. Actually, the way that most of the neighbors are so fastidious about their yards here, it wouldn't surprise me if someone else hasnt' complained about their yard already. Especially with the housing market the way it is right now

| Thank you!!! I agree! But you know how you hate to make waves and make things even worse? I was just so glad that the late night/early morning raging parties stopped, but it really is annoying when people are so inconsiderate . As much as I complained about living in a PUD with HOA, I'm beginning to see that at least you're protected from this kind of stuff, and you get the support you need with not too much repercussion

Oh my gosh....the good ol' days, LOL . I DO remember them! I always wondered why college kids get away with that stuff for so long . It used to really bug me b/c I went to bed pretty early and wasn't a drinker (drugs basically didn't exist, LOL), so I was ALWAYS calling the cops . That's terrible that they called you and your friend whores ....how rude! They must be real class acts . Hope your days with them as neighbors are over and you find some really nice ones! Thanks for replying .
