I have been retired now for one year, as a Health Official. I have two grown children, and two granddaughters, which live in Atlanta. My husband is a rancher. My favorite things to do is working in my greenhouse, the koi ponds, playing with my three furbabies, and quilting in the winter.

Retirement takes some adjusting, after coming to a sudden stop. Maggie fills my days, so I don't have time to think about rocking chairs.

Hi I'm Denisse. I'm 25 and work during the day at an Engineering firm in downtown Chicago. I used to be a professional makeup artist and still do an occasional shoot or wedding but I'd rather paint a canvas than paint a face these days. (9-5s are great because they allow u to pay the bills and still do ur art on ur own time)

At night and on the weekends I manage an independent hiphop artist that just released his first album...things are going better than we could have hoped for so we have a tour of 10 U.S. cities planned for the summer! :D

Aside from that I'm also involved in an all women's hiphop crew here in Chicago...we use breakdancing and other forms of art/dance to mentor young women from disadvantanged communities and help keep them out of trouble. (check us out at www.synergycrew.com)

It's always interesting to read about what other people do/are into...thanks all for sharing.

I have attached two pictures that I can stand of myself! Isn't it so wierd looking at pictures of yourself. One was taken out on my family's sail boat and the other is a work photo.
I was laid off in a corporate buy out in October, but got a really good package so I didn't have to start looking for work until this month. It was nice to take time off! That is why I got Tini in November. I figured I would have plenty of time to bond with her and train her before I went back to work. So...now I am looking for a new job, my experience is in Project Management for systems and it seems like right now my skills are in demand, so I have been getting some interview appointments! Keep your fingers crossed!
Anyway, I have been keeping busy running (I am training to run the Chicago marathon in Oct), learning to Knit and hanging out with my boyfriend Jim and my family!

I live with my boyfriend, who is a philosophy major at OU too. I am absolutely obsessed with OU sports, and do competitve intercollegiate debate. I like going fishing, but I hate touching fish. I'm Debbie, 33 yr old stay at home mommy to 2 human sons, 5 canine kids ,2 feline kids and a fiance I usually refer to as hubby. I make beaded jewelry as a hobby. I like to make beaded items that turn out to be a picture usually flowers and animal amulet bags. These sometimes take a week or more to make so it helps keep me busy when I have to much time on my hands. My new project is working on a beaded collar for Dixie. I am not sure if I should bead her name into it or make it with swarvski crystals so I have about 6 different collars started and all waiting to be finished.

When I did work, I had a residential & commercial cleaning service which turned me into a workaholic.Prior to that I was an administrator for an ACLF aka adult living facility for the mentally ill. I was diagnosed with cancer at 18 yrs old, 4 surgeries and a radiation therapy later I went into remission until 5 years ago. My doctor reccomended that I not work anymore so my system can help fight the cancer. I then began a dog lovers club that focused upon training shelter dogs in hopes they would help place the dogs into homes and once in those homes they would be more likely to remain there. We also helped folks who adopted through a shelter The club was open to people who had dogs from places other then shelters who had problem dogs. The ultimate goal was to prevent the dogs from hitting the shelter or adopted ones from returning there. We also had a breeder referral service since so many out there are just not doing the right thing.Before my cancer diagnosis at 18 my goal was to work with animals. Something along the lines of veterinarian, wild life rehabilitator with some behavioral in there. Since I was a toddler I have had a love for all animals and always told my parents I wanted to be a vet. Fate played its role and I never made it, but I do feel I did find my calling with working with pets who need help. About 6 years ago my fiance bought me a male german shepherd , I reminisced about a shep I had as a youngster and he tried to bring back those happy times I guess. This shep was a genetic time bomb and he is the reason I started the club. His last 4 months with me were spent doing research, visiting clubs, breeders, trainers and making calls across the country. It was an eye opening experience, until that time I guess one can say I was naive. I was not aware the moms personality contributed 80pct to your pup, I was not aware there were mills and 98pct of pet shops got dogs from there, I was not aware breeders just bred any papered dog to make money regardless of health/temperament, I was not aware that from the second a pup is conceived there are things that need to be done to ensure he be mentally & physically healthy so he make a good companion. I always assumed people who dealt with pets loved them as much as those of us buying them.The heartbreak I suffered with this male pup has led me on a journey which I am still traveling on. Where it ends I do not know, I do know if I have helped or can help 1 pet, 1 shelter dog, 1 person learn to help their pet then I have done something.

Lots of you know me by now (yay!) but for those of you who don't, here I am!

My name is Valerie and I am a newswriter. This is my 1st "real" job out of college, as I am 23 and graduated from Carson-Newman College in December 2003.

When I say "newswriter" I mean the boring, pee-on news that none of the older, more experienced writers care to cover. LOL. Among my many stories, I do upcoming events, road closings, letters to the editor and, yes, obituaries. But I don't write the obits, I just format them into our NewsEditPro system. But I do enjoy my job and being a part of the news! I love having my own desk in the newsroom - and I even take Sully to work with me some nights!

I am also a semi-newlywed! (How long would you consider a person married to be a "newlywed" still?) I married Eli Martin on February 28, 2004. We were married on the beach on Sullivan's Island - hence our dog's name, Sully!

I recently got my hair cut off for Locks of Love! It was a big deal to me, as I've had really long hair since I was 3. It's a wonderful feeling to know it went to such a wonderful cause.

My husband Eli just graduated from ETSU and we hope to move to Charleston, S.C. by August of this year! We are VERY excited about our hopeful-upcoming move! (I'm from Charleston and miss it a lot!)

We live in Maine with our three Yorkies. Ellie Mae, Destiny and Shiloh..
The first picture is of my daughter Aly with my oldest Daughters Yorkie named Bentley.. And the second is me last year on one of our walks at the park.. At that time we only had one Yorkie.. Now we are up to 3 and talking about more..
