WB church oh my god
 

ive just watched one of the worse things ive ever seen on tv:eek:
id never heard of that so called church b4 and i think most people in the uk wouldnt of heard of them ether.
i cant belive that they can preach so much hate and get away with it:mad:
they hate gay people, people who have sex b4 they are married, and the men and women who have died in the war, not mention most other people too, and they love it when someone is killed, murderd or died of illness like cancer, and why? cos they think its god who is doing it cos they are sinners and he hates them and sends them to hell.
well i dont even belive in a god but i was disgusted by what they were saying, i dont belive in god but i would never put anyone down who does belive in him or judge anyone who is not just like me.
to say someone who has been hit by car deserved it or has died of cancer is just plain sick, a child dies and they say its gone to hell, sick sick sick.
and all this is preached by some old nutter, i always think someone who hates gay people that much must be hideing something, and im guessing its in the closet if you know what i mean.
did any other brits see it on tv?
and how do the rest of you all feel about these people saying this stuff about your country?
it makes me mad and i dont even live in the usa.

Unfortunately, I feel like that is a lot (not all, but most) Christian-based churches, even in the US.Maybe not all of those types of people that you mentioned , but some of them that you mentioned. If you don't set a certain standard, and follow a certain set of rules, you're instantly bad and tainted.

This is so sad to me, but I know it is how a lot of people feel, but as a christian it just makes me so sad. I'm very thankful that I grew up in a christian family and church that preaches forgiveness and love that no one is perfect but God loves us no matter what we do. I was taught to not point fingers and condemn, people make mistakes, I make mistakes, God forgives. I try not to judge people, I actualy think this is something that society tries to instill in us, not church. At least not my church. And It breaks my heart to see/hear a church or a christian preach or practice anything other than forgiveness & unconditional love, as I know it will forever taint the image of what they are supposed to be standing for.

As for the show, Ive neven seen it and I'm glad, it sounds very upseting and depressing. The world is filled with so much bad stuff I try to weed out as much of it as I can.

I agree with you, Shana. I am a Christian, and I was taught the same beliefs as you were...To accept people for who they are and to be forgiving and loving. Shows like this and people like this are what make people turn away from God...It makes people who don't have God in their lives think that this is how Christianity is. It's not fair that this is what is portrayed and seen by people. This makes me so sad...
In my opinion, every religion, every political issue, etc. has people that I call extremists. You can't base everything about any issue on one instance or one group of people...

I'm Christian also, but definitely know what the other poster means, as I see it too. It is unfortunate, but in many cases it's true.

I'm not Christian, but certainly don't feel that true Christians are anything but good people. I think the basis for any religion is the same. We may use different names for a Higher Being, have different holidays, some different customs, and so on, but the basics are the same. Do unto others. love thy neighbor, forgiveness, compassion and so on. There are always those who use religion to control, to allow them to hate, take out their anger, and even start wars over.

I wouldn't watch a show like that. The media loves to sensationalize things.
I don't think you should should take that group too seriously.

I knwo you didnt ask me but I want to say that I feel that most people that claim to be religious are not. Thats another huge problem with religion, so many poeple claim to be "christian" or other types of relligious groups only because thier parents may have been and they themselves never step foot in a church or open a bible.

Jesus said that many would call themselves after His name. And they do. That's easy. It gets harder when you live your life in obedience to Him and that's what tells it all.

Liars, cheaters, theives, preachers of hatred....all those who follow after the world and what it has to offer are Christian in name only. Not in their hearts which is what He sees. He knows who they are. They can distress us with their actions but it is by those actions that we can know that they are not His. He says "By their fruits you shall know them." And so we can.

to begin with who in their right mind would even air a program about something like that pretty sad
