Anyone watch Glenn Beck on CNN headline News??
 
Last night, he was saying that some Harvard proffessor was saying that the Apocalypse will be on August 22, 2006, and it has something to do with the Iranian president.

I don't know what to believe, but if some national tv personality is saying it, and they are putting it on TV, does that mean it has some validity to it??

I remember a long time ago watching a film on Nostradamus and his prediction about WWIII was that it will be started by a Young Middle Eastern leader. I thought he was talking about Sadaam, but I just saw the Iraninan president, and he is young! I am starting to worry. I don't want to believe all this hocus pocus, but crap, everyone is talking about it and I am scared!

What are your feelings on all this??

I'm and so nervous about all of this. This will seriously turn into WWIII! Good thing my brother is the only boy out of my family, b/c he can never get drafted. But i'm still worried. :(

i try not to read things like this. and/or to think about it. it stresses me out to no end. and yet there is nothing I can do about it. I specially think about my children.

Actually, no. The opposite is true. If it is said on TV, I would be less inclined to believe it. The likelyhood of something serious like that being announced on TV is rather minute because it would cause mass panic, which would be the last thing governments or wealthy people want. Think about it, if the world was coming to an end in a couple of weeks, there would be total anarchy. Who'd care about the laws when you are going to die anyway?
Believe it or not, what is broadcast on TV is very specifically designed to create a certain effect. They have much to gain from keeping people full of fear. There are no valiant news reporters that unearth hidden truths, because they only get paid to say what they have been told.
I am a big big Noam Chomsky fan, and I have been reading various analyses of media in the past 4 years. One thing I am sure of is that no media company would allow something of this magnitude to be broadcast if it were in fact true.

Nope...I don't believe it...no one knows when the end of the world will come except for God and like they say on those baked bean commercials...he ain't talkin!

That makes a lot of sense! I just don't understand why this guy has his own show, he makes the most outlandish claims. I watch him because of it is funny the crap he comes up with.

I completely agree with you! People would end up pulling their investments and especially retirement plans. Lots of people go nuts spending money because many times cash becomes worthless and people are more concerned about stocking up on food and even moving. What you said makes sense and the government probably wouldn't even warn us until it happens.

One thing is for sure. When Aug 22 comes and goes and nothing happens, he will be disgraced.

He is really going out on a limb. Very risky.

I didn't post this thread so people could tell me to get a grip. I just opened it to discussion, we are living in totally different times, and yes, I am aware that they have been saying the world was going to end all the time and it hasn't happened yet. But, what is happening now has never happened in the past.
