BTW I am baking my daughter a cake as a surprise as we speak so we can sing happy birthday to her tonight when she comes home. I will probably have to have at least a bite but I think it's ok to cheat here and there as long as you don't over indulge. I have been working out so much lately too. I hear as they get older they start thinking mom and dad are cool again. She's 15 so we're def not right now!! haha :D |
I tried one of those cucumber sandwiches tonight. It actually worked out pretty well. I took capt_noonies idea of not putting a top piece. I just cut out the middle and filled it with meat, avocado, cheese, tomato and pickle. I will make it again. It was that good. |

I tried the quinoa fried rice last night. It was ok but next time I can do it better. I will have to undercook the quinoa a bit or use less water. It absorbed all the fried rice flavors well, but didn't have the dry/chew texture. But overall still pretty good! Also I will leave my egg chunks bigger next time, and add shrimp as well. |
I made one of Dr. Oz's green smoothies for breakfast. It came out pretty good. lol A lot of prepping though. But it kept me full for hours. |
Pinterest Chickpeas crepes! Gluten free and paleo diet friendly. I'm going to try this. I saw the Red Barn brand flour at Big Lots. No need to go to Whole Foods. |

Sprouts is one of my favorites! They have all kinds of beans/spices/nuts/etc in bulk, so you can buy just a bit instead of a whole package. Great for trying out new things you've never had before. If you don't like it, you don't waste a bunch of food and money. They also have made to order sandwiches at the deli section for $3.99. Ours usually has it with Boar's Head for $1 more. Only thing I don't like about them is their meat and seafood section is lacking. I go there mainly for bulk foods. Produce is pretty cheap but I can usually get for cheaper at my Korean market. I am certain Sprouts will have chickpea flour there in bulk. Go there. I am positive you will love it. It's like a mini Whole Foods without the markup and the attitude. ETA: Sprouts is the first place I easily found raw nuts. |

Good to hear. I was a little skeptical. Worried it was just an overpriced grocery store. lol I will visit it soon. |
Well I went to Big Lots since it's just across the street from my shop, and they had that Red Mill or whatever brand. They had pretty much everything except for the chickpea flour. So I will have to make a stop at Sprouts later. Hopefully tonight if I am not too tired. I wanted to make those crepes tonight dang it! |
Interesting article and experiment. We already know the outcome but still interesting nonetheless. Twin Brothers Put Diet Crazes To The Ultimate Test |
HA! Finally seaweed is becoming "cool"? https://www.yahoo.com/food/seaweed-n...399018348.html |
how's everyone doing?? I am still plugging along on a strict diet. Since the weight loss from the OZ diet seemed to be slowing down, I decided to switch things up. Since I am on a mission to lose for NY and my March Ski trip I want to do it as fast as I sensibly can. So on Sunday I started the Atkins diet, not much of a change really, swapped the morning shake for eggs and a few pieces of bacon and instead of almonds for a snack I have a piece of skim milk string cheese, I also now eat a bigger piece of chicken or fish than on I did on the Oz plan. Since Sunday I lost 3 pounds so I feel the switch is working. As of today I lost 15.5 lbs total and tomorrow will mark 3 weeks since starting. Radishes are the new pretzels for me, I always liked them but hardly buy them, I just found out they are on of the lowest carbs and calorie veggies out there. I slice them thin, put a tiny bit of salt on them and eat them as a snack. I just bought two pounds. I guess I am lucky because several people including my sister have told me they have trouble digesting them or they bother their stomach. I am also eating a lot of mashed cauliflower. I am just not into salads right now, perhaps 2 ft of snow and temps around 0 degrees since the New Year has something to do with it. Have a healthful day everyone I went to dinner with a group of girlfriends I did the same thing as before looked at the menu on line and told them I did not need one at the table, I just asked for a grilled piece of same and a pile of their fresh veggies, I was lucky there fresh veggies was a good melody of stuff I have been eating and they seemed to be stir fried like I do at home. Being able to order like this without looking at the menu is very helpful to me and I like it. Normally I agonize over what to get because everything looks sooooooo good. |

Just had a strawberry, banana & greek yogurt smoothie for breakfast. Now I am going to that gym class that left me sore for three days. My muscles need a little more breaking in. lol My mirror reflection tells me I am slimming down. But I have decided I am not going to get on the scale until someone comments that I look like I am losing weight. I can't take the stress. lol |
Um yeah so I went to my class today. Well i get there and the instructor was like 15 minutes. When she finally gets there it's an 80 year old lady. I was like... ok don't judge. give her a chance. So I stayed. Well I didn't last 10 minutes before i left. I could have fell a sleep doing that workout. People just started leaving one after another not long after it started. I am surprised they have her instructing a class like that. Weird. I ended up just doing 20 minutes on elliptical and then worked out my butt a little then left the gym. |

Christinee did I tell you that about 30-35 years I taught aerobics, that was back in the Jane Fonda days full of leg warmers, leotards and head bands:D I taught the old fashioned kind, high impact where you jumped up and down and kicked your legs like you were a Rockette, no wonder I have arthritis in my knees. Not only did I teach but I took high impact classes like that for over ten years, in later years I got addicted to step aerobics which I still like but rarely do. |

That is really cool you use to teach it. :) So you totally understand where I am coming from. |

I totally do, my life used to revolve around the aerobic schedule, who taught it, what type of class it was, where I stood in the room and so forth. My husband used to be pissed, his only day off was Sunday and my favorite class was 9 am on Sunday morning, so I never wanted to sleep in or have breakfast together. It was like a little cult, I knew most of the people that would attend the classes I did and most of us stood in the same place, for each class. A friend of mine is going through this now and she finally decided that she is tired of missing a workout because she can not make the class or does not like the teacher, so she is showing up just to do the cardio instead of the class. At Bally's I would often notice the die hard aerobics students barely used the rest of the gym at all, they would show up just before class and leave right afterwards. For a long time I belonged to an aerobic only studio where they had no equipment other than what was used in the class, in hind sight I wish I did not do that, but it was pretty popular then, not quite as much now. Also now there are more boot class type of classes where you use weights or resistance so you are not just jumping up and down which is really hard on your joints and bones. |
I'm in love with strawberry, banana, greek yogurt smoothies. It's been my breakfast for the last three days. Today I put a scoop of peanut butter in it. YUMMY! :) |
So I still haven't tried the chickpea crepes yet. I bought some dried chickpeas at Sprouts bc I couldn't find the chickpea flour in the bulk section. Well I just about gave bf a heart attack when I tried using the Vitamix with the wet container to grind up the rock hard peas. I don't have the dry container. It started turing it into nut butter so I stopped. This morning I went to my Persian market and they have a bag of chickpea flour for $2.69 a bag. LOL So tonight I will make the crepes. And if successful, these will be my stand in for all things bready. It is gluten free, low carb and very high in protein. Very simple recipe. 1 part flour, 1 part water. Salt and spices to taste. Heat cast iron pan high heat and add in high smoking oil. Pour in and when it bubbles flip it over. That's it. Apparently it's popular with sauteed mushrooms and rosemary, or with goat cheese or labne. YUM Since I have started reporting on this thread I have gone down one belt notch and about 4 pounds. No exercising and still with my nightly rum. Just better food decisions. |
Ok, note to self. Make those chickpea crepes REALLY THIN. I did 1 cup flour and 1 cup water. Batter was really thin as what they said it would be. But I tried to pour too much in my pan and too high of heat. I tossed the first batch and the 2nd I tried lower heat, more oil and more patience. It really needs to go on low/med. Anyway, taste wise it was just ok. No life altering OMG. I will try again soon. So far quinoa is a better win. |
Good morning ladies, off to the gym! |
Went to school this morning. I planned on coming home and then changing clothes and going straight to the gym, but when I got home I had a bunch of messages that I was needed at work for a couple hours. So here I am sitting on my butt working. lol oh well. more money more honey right. |
Looks like I am taking a day off. The family wants to go to dinner. I didn't have time to make it to the gym today. Have any of you eaten at that restaurant, "Stacked"? You build your own food on an ipad to order it. It's pretty good food too. I will build a grilled shrimp salad with dressing on the side to keep it light. :) |
I have eaten there in San Diego before. I just thought it was ok. It's connected to a mall so I didn't have very high expectations. We just got burgers. I just remember the service was terrible. No one in the restaurant at all too. |

Never thought of 100% pure pb in a smoothie before. Usually I just have some on a ryvita or on wwheat toast. Looking forward to using it your way though:) |

It's really good. |
I read that spin classes can make your butt and legs bigger than they already are. Does anyone know if this is true or not. Because the last thing i need is a bigger butt. There are articles all over the internet that say there is truth to this?? |
Let me ask you this. Have you ever seen a cyclist with a big butt or thighs? No. They are all over-all thin but toned, just like runners. I'm in the bike industry. No one is overly big in the butt or thighs, men or women. Cardio in any way burns calories all over your body. |
