Saturday was one month since Ken's passing Saturday was an especially hard day for me as it was one month since I lost Ken. But one bright spot, in Saturday's mail I received a letter from the Illinois Eye Bank. They sent a nice letter thanking me for the compassionate and generous act of donating Ken's eyes. They said because of the donation a second chance for sight was given to a Monroe,Michigan woman and a Troy, Michigan woman. SO that made the day a little easier. I want to thank everyone one again for all the prayers, personal notes, thoughts and cards. You all made each day a little easier during Ken's battle. I am once again asking for prayers for strength for me as I grieve his loss. It is the hardest thing I have ever faced. |
You are always in my thoughts and prayers. What a special gift for those two people to have regained sight again... you are so generous and thoughtful and helping and caring... I so wish you better days ahead... Hugs, Kathy:) |
You are in my prayers Patti. This is very hard I know...I wish you peace to heal your heart. |
Patti, keeping you in thoughts and prayers. The gift of sight for these two women due to your generosity. God will cradle you as you make it through this very difficult time. Hugs to you. |
I think of you often. You life has taken a major change and I can not imagine how hard it is. It is nice to know that Kens eyes have helped others Stay strong play with the pups they always bring a smile in difficult times that is for sure. |
((hugs)) No other words. You are such a kind person and have been through so much. |
Definitely keeping you in my prayers. |
Patti, you are still so much in my thoughts and prayers. I know anniversaries of all kinds are so hard after losing a loved one. Holidays, too. I always hope and pray that you are eating, sleeping, feeling safe at night and that God will comfort you when you aren't. As a sister of a wonderful woman who went blind at middle age and sees the wreck that blindness can make of a what was a rich and full, artistic life, the donating of Ken's eyes is particularly wonderful to me. What a beautiful thing you and Ken did in lovingly providing one of the best gifts there is - the gift of sight. If the transplants are successful, those women could have absolutely new leases on life! I continue to hold you up in prayer. God bless you. |
My dear friend...you are so special to me and I feel so utterly bad that you lost Ken and are now on that long and hard journey of grief. I love you, Patti and always pray for God to comfort you. What wonderful news for you to get, knowing two women are able to see again. I'm so thankful to have you as my precious friend...I just wish you weren't going through such heartache and sadness. *HUG* |
We haven't "met" but my heart goes out to you just the same. I hope you find the strength to find eventual acceptance and peace, despite your loss. I hopped on this thread specifically because I lived very close to Monroe, MI for years, and used to work there. A tissue/organ gift is selfless and special no matter what, but it touched me that someone so close to "home" was affected by Ken's gift. |
Patti i think of you often and the way that you have gone above and beyond to help others...God bless you |
Be strong Patti, it is a long road to recovery but you can do it and you will find it gets easier everyday. Having lost both parents at a very young age I can tell you the best advice someone gave me is "do whatever you think feels right and respects the person you lost". I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am thankful you have good friends to help you with this journey along with your cute little furbabies. |
Patti I think of you and your pupster's daily, Knowing that Holidays and anniversies are hard right now. But with time they do get a little better, Please take care of your self and know all your YT friends are here for you. Sending you a group hug from us.:ghug:. Anne/Luci:animal-pa |
Patti, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope each day is a little easier for you. Sending hugs and prayers to help mend your broken heart. Valerie |

Patti, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Borrow strength from God and your friends on those days that seem too hard to get through. {{Hugs}} |
You are in my thoughts and prayers, Patti:love: I can only imagine how difficult things are for you right now and I'm so sorry you are going through this:( I know you'll always miss your Ken. That letter is wonderful, WOW! Ken helped TWO people to regain their sight. That is tremendous, he has impacted many lives:love: |
what a wonderful and sefless act to donate a spouses eyes. Giving sight back to two people is an amazing gift, this means a part of Ken will now live on for a long time to come. Having a close friend that lost her husband I know it is hard but each month you hurt a little less but your heart will never forget. |
Patti, you remain in my thoughts and prayers. I admire you so much and for many different reasons, and I pray for your strength and comfort. Think of the difference you made in the lives of the two women who were helped by your donation of Ken's eyes. No words are adequate to describe how wonderful that is. |
I've been thinking about you lately. Bless your heart. You are in my prayers. |
(( hugs)) you are in my thoughts and prayers- keep your head up and know he will always be around you! Monday was my Dad's 10yr- I can still remember the day he passed, Try to keep those good memories in your mind, the days you are upset it helps bringing those memories out and know they are in a much better place and they are always near us!! |
Oh Patti I cant even begin to imagine how difficult this must be. I have lost those close to me my parents when I was 23 and a cousin when she was 38 but to lose your husband.... My prayers are with you and God bless you for your gift to others and allowing their lives to be fuller. You are a very special lady and clearly you have an amazing strength within. God Bless you. |
My thoughts and prayers are with you...May God give you strength and help you through this. |
Patti you have remained in my thoughts and prayers. I know this is so very, very difficult for you. Just take it one day at a time. I find it so wonderful that two people are able to have sight due to your generosity of your donation gift of Ken's eye's. Just know I am sending prayers and hug's your way. |
Patti, I know the "anniversaries" are tough. Try to stay positive and remember all of the joyful times you were able to have with Ken. You did a great and wonderful thing for others when you gave others vision! You are the best:D |
And with your huge loss...a gift was given and their lives forever changed. God bless you Patti. |
