I desperately need a new hairsytle. help! I need inspiration. Can you guys help me out? My hair is getting very long, I haven't had it cut in about 2 yrs so it has NO style or body whatsoever. I want to keep it longish still. bf hated my hair when it was really short. at least shoulder length I guess. I have thin hair and not a lot of it. It is stick straightand pretty flat, no volume. I'm asian, but don't have typical thick thick asian hair. My hair's pretty much yorkie hair. :D thin and silky, that is if I ever brushed it. If any of your guys browse celeb sites or beauty sites, keep me in mind and save some pics for me. Maybe you guys are seeing some pics I'm not bc I'm not seeing anything I like so far. I want something on the edgier side, but fairly low maintenance. I'm not against bangs or anything either. I've just been wearing my hair pulled back for the longest time and I'm sick of it. HELP! |
What about those hair styles where it's long in the front and short in the back? I have no idea what you look like, so I'm just taking a stab in the dark. It's edgy-ish and I've seen girls with thin, straight hair look good with similar styles. |
A-line bob, chin length in front, nape of neck in back. Works great with straight hair, can be done asymmetrically for more edginess. And takes next to no time to maintain. |
I hear you on the Asian hair. I'm 1/2 Korean 1/2 American Indian and the hair IS stick straight. Won't hold a curl for crap. I used to have about mid-back length and would get it permed all the time, layered and hot rollers every freaking morning. Did that for almost 40yrs.... My DH was NOT happy when I whacked it all off.. It's way shorter now then most guys I work with and they are cops (you know how short their hair is), so I'm going with the 80yo lesbian look. You have a beautiful face and a pixie cut would look adorable on you, but your BF would definitely not like it. |
2 Attachment(s) Not sure what you look like, but you could always just got in to a hair salon with great reviews, tell them what you want and let them play with it. Like, just below shoulder, you'd like it to look fuller, and some layers to give it something. I found a couple of pictures, not sure if they're up your alley or not, lucky for us we have the internet, and therefore access to millions of different pictures of hair :D Good luck! |

That is very pretty and I like it. It looks like it would be no maintenance to up keep. Just wash and dry and go! Its kinda the way I keep my hair but mine is curly but it works the same. :) |

1 Attachment(s) This is what I look like. That's me and wax Johnny :D I am a bit fuller in the face now. My face is oval, but very long, and my eyes are kinda up higher than middle of face, so I need extra height up top volume wise, but my hair never holds volume! :thumbdown I want something really edgy. those pics are very pretty, but I'm not really going for pretty, lol. For example, bf got a great cut from a salon with great reviews that does dry cuts only a la Edward Scissorhands style, and he wanted me to get the same cut. It is shaved on both sides . I would totally do it if I had enough hair, but I don't. THAT edgy, ya get me? ;) |
You need good hair products and you will have volume. I'm all about the produces and lucky for me my son's girlfriend works at a high end salon and does my hair. She taught me the tricks to keep the volume going by blow drying the roots backward. What you need is a really good stylist that will suggest different cuts that will work for your hair. They are very hard to find and much like finding a needle in a haystack :( Just make sure that you buy product is my only suggestion for a good style. |

I wonder what you'll end up with. I'm a play it safe kind of girl. I hope you find something you and bf can both like. :) |
I've lost about 20lbs since I first cut off my hair, so now my face went from ovally round, to long. I actually have so short it is spiky on top and that gives me a bit of height to it. Cut that short I need no product. Oriental hair holds no volume, it is in the cut. However, in my last ID photo I look like an 80 year old lesbian.... ah well Oh and product seems to just weigh oriental hair down and make it oilier. It is difficult hair to do a whole lot with..... |
I have super fine, silky, mostly stick straight hair. The bob where it is longer in the front, with almost full length bangs, is what works for me. Another secret is is to use Dust it! It is a talcum powder like substance that you sprinkle at the scalp, they call it "tease in a bottle" It works wonderfully for me! I do have hair that tends to be dry, and lucky for me, my hairstylist is my best friend. I get my hair done every Monday and Thursday, she washes, dries, flat irons it, and uses dust it! in it so I can have body at the crown. She is learning how to do the brazilian straightening, and once she has that down, I am going for it, it blocs 98% of the humidity, so you have no frizzies, hair dries as if it has been straightened (supposedly) |
Totally understand the asian hair thing...I have been trying to grow my bangs out and they are at the point of hating and wanting to cut them back (and then regretting it ). I wear my hair parted to the side and right now it is just past my shoulders. For the past several years, I have had the bob cut but I have them undercut it so it curls under with me having to do too much. I cut the sides just a tad bit shorter, but not too much. I like to keep the sides either behind my ears or clipped back as I don't like having so much hair on the sides of my head. I have been debating going really short as I first want to lose a bunch of weight. I had a crew cut a couple of times and absolutely LOVED it! But then I was in my 20s and 30's. :D Once I lose at least 20 lbs, I'm going for it again, lol Hubby hates it but I'm the one who has to wash and style it. :D Have you considered going short, like maybe a pixie? but one length? This would give your ends a bit more fullness and then you wouldn't have the choppiness of layers. With our hair, the cut hairs just pop out no matter what you do if you have layers on top of the cut. Good luck. :) BTW, I think you look good with your hair now. ;) |
well i have polar opposite hair(thick, curly, waist length) but my cousin has very thin very strait hair and she went to best cuts and flipped through a book and just picked out the one that she liked they did a great job on the cut and on the help picking it she looks great it completely transformed her |
