Sorry if you were just expressing frustration! :) Wanted to make sure wasn't anger toward me. Just being honest in this thread. :) |

I will not donate to a site that allows sexualy explicit material. The rules clearly state that it is not allowed, yet it was allowed. Why? We all know that sex sells, if that is what this is all about then I don't care to contribute. I contribute, for the dogs, not for someone to discuss their sex life.. There are other sites for that. |
You agree that you will notuse the YorkieTalk Forums to post any advertisement or other commercial message except expressly allowed by YorkieTalk. You agree that you will not post any knowingly false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, harassing, obscene, sexually oriented, or threatening message or material that is illegally invasive of another person’s privacy. Ok, I know I will be bashed here, but that's ok. For the record, I did not go to the sex thread, was not interested and never posted on it. It just seems to me that you are taking the rules out of context and seeing what you want them to say. It doesn't say you can't post it, it says it can't be illegally invasive of anothers privacy which that thread was not. |
Not that I really care one way or the other....The thread is not one I care to read or participate in, so therefore, I don't. If there is no violation of rules, people should be allowed to post as they wish there. Likewise, if people are of the opinion that it's offensive, then they should be allowed to post their feelings as they see fit too. (IMO) But I keep seeing the excerpt from the rules posted--read it more clearly. You agree that you will not post any knowingly false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, harassing, obscene, sexually oriented, or threatening message or material that is illegally invasive of another person’s privacy. As it is written, it doesn't state that you can't post material of that nature....just that you can't post it if it is "illegally invasive of another person's privacy." The thread in question may be distasteful, but are the comments being directed at specific members in a way that can be deemed and 'invasion of their privacy?' There is another section of the rules that states: "No adult images or links to adult images are allowed." So, not sure if that is happening....just saying. Just wanted to point that out.....carry on! :) |

Oh please......it is the Off Topic forum. Much ado about nothing imho. You cannot please all of the people all of the time. Whatever you don't donate, someone else will. The site has been around a long time and I hardly doubt that a thread with such innocuous material is going to cause it to fail. |
Acutally, I think that maybe I am reading the excerpt wrong. Does the 'invasive of privacy' only apply to "material" since the list of what is allowed is separated by "or." Which would mean that everything listed before would be disallowed....meaning that the thread in question would be a clear violation of the rules. Hmmm.....not very clear. Oh well, clearly my concern is more on the grammatical structure of the excerpt than the actual thread in question itself....which I have now concerned myself about too long. :p Surely I can calm my inner grammar-OCD demons and find something more interesting to think about. Anyway...moving on. |

It states: You agree that you will not use the YorkieTalk Forums to post any advertisement or other commercial message except expressly allowed by YorkieTalk. You agree that you will not post any knowingly false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, harassing, obscene, sexually oriented, or threatening message or material that is illegally invasive of another person’s privacy. The "or" indicates that the first part can be read on its own. I do not have a strong opinion either way on this topic, but it is incorrect to state that if it is not illegally invasive that it is allowable. This is not true according to the forum rules and that "or". I have had a post removed when I was first a member after a person posted about being afraid she was pregnant. I was giving her advice that the certain "method" she was relying on was not a proper one. I used the term and it was removed. If that was removed, the rules have become different or more things are allowable now. |
Ha ha Maddie....we were posting the same thing at the same time about the separation via "OR." :D Read my second post. |
Just to clarify a little, as there seems to be some confusion about the rule. The way that Mojo and Bama are interpreting the rule is accurate. This is not my board, so I can't/won't alter the rules, but I do respect them as they are now. Personally, the thread doesn't bother me. As a moderator, I can understand why it may bother some members, and bc there are people who are concerned - I will link this thread to Admin to make sure the opinions are considered. I'm sure it's already been read by Admin, but I just want to assure those who are concerned that I'll make double sure. :) Also, please remember that if someone does have children who come here, we can disable access to the Off Topic section for that child. :) |

I simply stated, Just because YOU CAN, does not mean YOU SHOULD. I will not support a site that allows sexually explicit material. I'm sure the site will go on without my contribution, but at least I did not contribute to it. It is not necessary. There are other sites for those who want to be involved in that. |

As you said, it is their call, but I'm sure they did not forsee that type of thread. |
