which cell phone service is best nowadays? sooooo.....my cell phone contract is about up which means i feel the need to check the competition and see if i can do better.....an activity i absolutely detest. currently i use tmobile and have 3 phones on a plan. myself and two teenage boys. we have unlimited texting which, with teens is just necessary. i've been satisfied for the most part really, but am wondering if any of you guys out there who have different carriers have anything great to say about them? any input would be appreciated. thanks! |
I had AT&T and my husband who got the best reception regardless of where we traveled in CA. had verizon. I switched and couldn't be happier, but we are in CA. I hear different states have different reception that are good or poor. You may need to ask around in your local area. |

They have a wide variety of plans that are easy on the budget. |

I've got Verizon and love the reliability! I use it in the HRBT and Mon. Merrimac tunnels with no dropped calls all the time. Customer service in the Newport News store sucks, but the Williamsburg store is awesome! I'm not sure about your side of the water though. Also if you call them they are amazingly helpful over the phone. They actually told me I wasn't using all the minutes I was paying for and that I'd be better off lowering my minutes per month. I got the Driod for Christmas and they have been super helpful and patient with my tech-challenged self :p Depending on what your minute needs are they just recently lowered their unlimited to $69 a month for one phone line, the kids would be another $10 each and it's like $5 or $6 a month for unlimited texting / pic texts. However the $69 plan doesn't give your added lines unlimited calling to outside of Verizon customers. Does that make sense? Plus they have a chaperon application that allows you to know where your kids phones are cost more of course. I've never used it as it's just not my beliefs to spy on my kids, but it is a cool program. And you can set time limits on their usage and shut their phones off at certain times, which would have been helpful to my sister as her daughter stayed up all night on the phone and wondered why she was failing school. Good luck!!!! |
I've used Verizon and AT&T (on that right now) and have had really no issues with both services. |
I've been with Verizon for the last 10yrs...I got my first cell phone at 16 when I started to drive..my parents wanted a way to stay in contact with me... I live in California and always have service where ever I am...I've always had good luck with the customer service reps too... I know Verizon can be a little pricey but its worth it for me :) But I'm a little jealous that ATT has the Iphone...I wouldn't mind having one of those :) But the blackberry work for now!! |
I don't know if US Cellular is in VA Beach but if it is you will not find better service. And you bill is the same every month unless you go over your min. They offer free incoming calls, text and pictures from anyone land or cellular service and the nights start at 7:00 pm. |
I've had verizon for at least 10 years and will stay with them. They seem to have be thest coverage for us when we on on the water. People will ask to use our phones since we seem to have a signal and they don't. |
WOW! thanks for all the opinions! you guys have definitely made my task a lot easier!:) |
I'm with TMobile and have been for 5 years. I switched to them after Sprint wouldn't let me upgrade my phone for the "new 2 year contract price" even though I had been a customer for 5 years with them! I have never had any problems with them, great service and phones. I have 4 lines on my plan and just recently switched from a contract to no contract plan and saved myself $100 a month! Before you switch you should at least give them a call, just tell them that you think your bill is too high and you need to lower it. They'll see that your contract is up and you are considering going elsewhere, and they'll do whatever they can to get you to stay! Good luck! |

I have had T-mobile for about 2 years, and they have the best phones, but the coverage is really spotty. (at least in my area) |
AT&T hands down! Coverage can't be beat. |
I seem to be the oddball - I have Sprint and have been with them 5 years now. I actually love my service there. We have three phones all with unlimited internet usage, unlimited texting, unlimited nights starting at 6, unlimited weekend minutes, and 1500 minutes to share for about $120/month. I always have service even in remote places. |
I have been with TMobile for the last 4 years. They have wonderful customer service and are very helpful whenever I have a problem The only issue I have is that I don't have good reception in certain areas. |
We have verizon and haven't had any problems at all.......satisfied. |
Coming from a law enforcement perspective, ATT is best, TMobile is crap. Our dispatch gets calls from ATT, they're more than willing to give updated info on GPS coordinates over the phone from initial call, Tmobile wants a phone call, a fax, then they'll call you back. Verizon is the same way, and I didn't even know sprint was still around. Here Tmobile is over priced and reception is horibad (DFW area) My wife had sprint before, reception was crap, a few people at work have blackberries on tmobile, about once a month there seems to be a blackberry outage, however mine never goes down. I'm more than satisfied with ATT, and would stick with them regardless. |
I have Verizon, although I am not in love with them, they get the best coverage around here and the best value with the verizon to verizon free. Their plans are competitively priced but I find the customer service leaves MUCH to be desired when you do need to call them. |
My company phone is verizon which is consistanly excellent no matter what state I travel to. I also have sprint which I think is the next runner up for CT area. My parents use At&t and their phones do not work in their home. |
i have been with AT&T for over a decade...when they were Southwestern Bell to Cingular to AT&T back to Cingular and now again AT&T and have no intentions of leaving! lol |
I have had AT&T for years and years... it was Cellular one then Cingular then AT&T. I have problems with reception in my home, but that is because we live in an area that technically AT&T doesn't yet offer coverage. Everywhere else I've lived AT&T was great. My BF had Tmobile and then Verizon and then switched to AT&T b/c of reception issues when we lived in St. Louis. I love love the rollover minutes!!! |
We have 3 phones (2 Blackerry's and a Sumsung slider) on our AT&T plan and we all get great reception. We live in the county (as opposed to the city ;)) and I've never had a problem with reception. |
